Discussion Multiplayer game without being online at the same time?
Hey everyone. I have a friend from the other side of the world, we would love to play a game together but since the different time zones are huge, it's hard for us to actually find the time to play together.
We almost bought "Palworld" since we thought we could play together on the same world and interact with each other bases while the other is offline. Sadly this only works if the host IS ONLINE.
Are there any multiplayer games on PlayStation that you can share a world with a friend, both progressing at their own pace and time, yet still be connected and impacted by the others actions. Playing as a team or against each other.
Hopefully someone can help me.

I think most survival games, actually? Lego Fortnite, Minecraft, The Forest...

The forest doesn’t have a dedicated server option so host need to be online to play

All of these work if one of us is offline?

Lego Fortnite does. You just need to be on at the same time initially to set it up, then you can share a key to the world and you can boot into it or they can.

Fortnite won't require a ps plus subscription to do multiplayer, unsure about others
I think 7 days to die is persistent, also don't starve together...idk if host is required online though. 7 days is on sale right now.
Good luck, have fun!

Palworld doesn’t have at the moment dedicated servers so the host is actually running the server and game over his own ps5 ( I don’t hate my console that much to do this) and is always being an online game so you both need to be online no matter what. What you want is dedicated servers games. Cobran exile has dedicated servers, also ark, minecraft, rust but you need to either pay for a dedicated server or get inside someone else servers this last one is a risk cause someone else may find very entertaining to destroy and rob another person base. You can find a good servers without toxic people but you also will get your base destroyed if the host haven’t seen you login in on a couple of days.

So sad about Palworld since it's the aesthetically most pleasing of the games you said.
Maybe they gonna bring them in soon

I would say they will cause Xbox has it after being launched over there

Dragon dogma 1 and 2. You send pawns to each other's game. So you don't need to be online at the same time.

There's Minecraft, but you would have to use Minecraft realms. You can use it to host an always online server it's like $5+ a month.
Also, there's Ark Survival Ascended. You could use a server hosting site like Nitrado to host an always online server or if you have an old console you're not using, you can use that to host a console dedicated server.
Most games outside of the Survival drama are drop in, drop out multiplayer. When the host player is offline so is the world, so your best bet is to use a server hosting site and see what they offer in terms of games

That game has a multiplayer mode?
Also what do you do there, everything I saw from the game was just "walking"

Not really multiplayer per se. element of other people world has a chance to show up in your world.
It is a lot of walking and planning. It starts off really slow but ramps up imo once you start unlocking stuff. The story is a wild ride, the settings and music is wonderful. It’s def not a game for all but it sure is an experience.
Edit: also my bad. For some reason I thought you wanted a non traditional online game.

Pretty sure the host has to be online?

This is not a dedicated server game so host need to be online and doesn’t provide the option for one.

Minecraft, you however will have to pay.
