ENG Analysis April Fool's Skill-up Event (v2)
Similar to last year, let's have a thread to report our success rates, to have an idea of the skill-up going on.
Skill Up rates will vary between 2x and 4x
For reference, Global rates :
Base rate | Skill-up x2 | Skillup x3 | Skillup x4 |
---|---|---|---|
23% | 46% | 69% | 92% |
Now, for today :
Session | Starting time PST | Duration | Theoretical | Practical estimation (samples) |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 (ended) | 00:00 | 3 hours | Skill-up x2 (116/299 - 38.80%) | |
2 (ended) | 03:00 | 1 hour | Skill-up x4 | Skill-up x4 (395/446 - 88.57%) |
3 (ended) | 04:00 | 7 hours | Skill-up x2 | Skill-up x2 (106/233 - 45.49%) |
4 (ended) | 11:00 | 1 hour | Skill-up x4 | Skill-up x4 (456/505 - 90.30%) |
5 (ended) | 12:00 | 7 hours | Skill-up x2 | Skill-up x2 (26/63 - 41.27%) |
6 (ended) | 19:00 | 1 hour | Skill-up x4 | Skill-up x4 (149/160 - 93.13%) |
7 (ended) | 20:00 | 4 hours | Skill-up x2 or x3 | Skill-up x2? (18/35 - 51.42%) |
Please, when reporting, add the "session" number (the timeslot) for easier reference for people checking the comments. I'll try to update the table regularly based on the comments, although I won't be there for the last 2 sessions since they will start at 5 AM and 6 AM here (but I'll probably update the last slot since it will last till 10 AM and I'll wake up in the morning)
"Theoretical" is based on the event from past year, where Bamco gave higher success rate during the shorter periods.
"Practical" is based on all the comments from this thread (that I add up) plus mine; however since most people don't feed the exact amount required to max a unit, expect those numbers to be a bit below the actual rate. For a bit more "accurate" samples (but much smaller), you can refer to mine below (as I don't feed more than needed to max a unit).
Personal samples
Session 1 | Session 2 | Session 3 | Session 4 | Session 5 | Session 6 | Session 7 |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
13/28 (46.4%) | 62/66 (93.93%)* | 17/33 (51.51%)* | 24/28 (85.7%) | 1/4 (25%) | Wootie, 44/46 (95.7%)** | Wootie |
*added Moerderbarsh as well since he used the precise numbers
**added Legru, since I was sleeping but he had the precise numbers
PLEASE, post NEW comments for NEW data (do NOT edit your previous ones)
I sort comments by time (from recent to oldest) and once I've added the data, I upvote the comment to mark as "read" (for me), to not waste time and keep up. If you update an old comment, I simply won't see that data and won't be able to add it in the table. So please, whenever you have new numbers, just post a new comment with the new data :-) Thanks.
Thanks to everyone who contributed !! See you next year xD

ENG Analysis Analysis Of Free Legend Picks : Breakdown + Tier List
I understand there's still deliberation on which free legend to pick on Global ( and I got some free time ) so I decided it'd be easier to break down the advantage/disadvantages of the various free legends, just to help weigh your opinion, then a little tier list at the end ( personal opinion ) just in case you're still so indecisive!
Note this will be a list on the free legends being offered from the current list of free legends being able to be picked!
I am rating them as if you own NO legends and want the most efficient pick for your box.
I will be looking at them from both a base but mostly from a 6+ aspect as well, as long as that option is available
- Whitebeard: Four Emperors
- Boa Hancock: Snake Princess
- Sabo, True Power of the Mera Mera no Mi
- "Dark King" Silvers Rayleigh, Right Hand of the Pirate King
- Rob Lucci "Life Return", CP9's Strongest
- Red Hair Shanks, Four Emperors
- Portgas D. Ace, The Sun that will Destroy the Darkness
- Sengoku the Buddha, Marine Fleet Admiral
- Hawk Eyes Mihawk, The Black Blade [Yoru]
- Bartolomeo the Cannibal, Straw Hat Grand Fleet - "Son's Cup"
And the regular 6* still on the list
Anyway without further ado
Whitebeard: Four Emperors
Advantages
- a 3x ATK with low HP Threshold isn't hard to maintain in our meta, especially with many useful units reducing your HP
- A Rainbow captain so any units you have can immediately come into use
- Striker and Powerhouse classes are easily the best in the game right until Knowledge/Drivens start getting their support so you'll find good use out of strong units
- 1.75x ATK, while low, is good enough to clear initial stages that a 3x ATK boost do overkill
- You can start "most" bosses and raids at 50% with two WB's. Most not including Coliseums where the sub-boss can often be a trouble on himself, still the fact you can start them at 70% is pretty good
- The slight HP Boost 6+ gives means he gets typically 6000-9000 HP to work with below 30%, not too shabby!
- Can be easily combined with Legend Lucy and work with Coliseum Lucy just as well to get full orbs + two turns of Atk boost!
- Combined perfectly with Lucci V1
Disadvantages
- 1.75x is low for many tough starting runs if you're running two WB's, which can be alleviated with a stronger friend lead like Lucy
- 30% health cuts are slightly arachaic in tougher Coliseums where you'd much rather have a >3x lead who also happens to have a much more useful/synergetic special
- 30% health requirement for 3x is really bad for stalling when you need the 3x to clear the initial stages
- Lost his laugh doing his special when he super evolved
Boa Hancock: Snake Princess
Advantages
2.75x ATK to two classes is decent at best
Her special is really the better part about her
- Left column orb manipulation, delay for 1 turn, and ATK boost for QCK and PSY characters is really overloaded and nice
- Gives her use on teams that need both, like Legend Marco
- Excellent sub really, but powercrept Lead
Disadvantages
- Her lead is easily crushed by easier-to-get RR's, like Rayleigh and Gladius
- And why would you run a QCK lead with PSY units, rather than a PSY Lead with PSY subs.
- The Orb change isn't a full orb change, so it cannot replace your orb changer, meaning you'll at most find use for Boa against Coliseum's or set up turns before true bursts.
- Loses her 2.75x ATK boost when she hits lower health which is awful when RR's are able to keep it.
Sabo, True Power of the Mera Mera no Mi
Advantages
- 2.75x ATK and 1.2x for HP/RCV for Freedom is generally really good
- Great synergy with TS Luffy, letting you take another utility/damage boost when TS Luffy covers the 4x ATK lead and Sabo covers a 2-turn ATK boost with his special
- 1.2x HP and TS Luffy/Another Sabo get you a decent tankiness, often +30k effective HP
Disadvantages
- 2.75x ATK is not a >3x ATK so you lose out on burst potential using him
- Sometimes forced to not do perfects against great/good shields, leaving you with only a 1.5x/1.75x ATK boost with no second turn
"Dark King" Silvers Rayleigh, Right Hand of the Pirate King
Advantages
- Average damage accounts to around a 2.75x Rainbow Lead, which is good!
- Most of the burst is in the later units of the chain, so you dont lose as much damage when dealing with barriers/shields compared to other 2.75x/3x leads
- A big utility in his special helps out in bind/despair effects, and the small delay helps
- Huge synergy as a sub or fellow lead with Gear 4, despite forcing him in majorly Fighter conditions
- Has a surprisingly huge F2P and clear rate, despite talk that he's not good.
Disadvantages
- Special still feels lacking for a legend
- 2.75x for rainbow is weaker for content
- Problems clearing stages/1-rounding stages with the first two units generally lacking a good enough atk boost.
Rob Lucci "Life Return", CP9's Strongest
Advantages
- Reaches 3.5x atk just on orb luck for all non-important stages
- Powerhouse has amazing orb reroll options with Coli Marco and WB so his special doesn't get low usage
- His matching orb boost is often 5-6/6 matching orbs
- Powerhouse as a class is one of the most broken F2P and RR wise, with many orb changers orb boosters and Class boosters, Lucci users never feel short of utility or boosters.
- 3.5x and 2.5x without perfect orbs is incredibly good for speedrunning dungeons, especially with Zunisha making RCV/TND matching
- Good synergy with WB against BLOCK orbs his other Lucci V2
Disadvantages
- Need utility when orbs can get rerolled inbetween rounds with BLOCK or non-matching
- relies on Matching orbs to do high damage, any non-beneficial orb changer can crush him there
- 0 RCV can be delibriating if you need to use RCV to help with out with mistakes/stalling
- Pretty glass cannon without RCV or an HP Boost, but deals enough damage that this isn't much of a problem
Red Hair Shanks, Four Emperors
Advantages
- 1.3x HP means you get pretty tanky!
- 2.75x to only PSY...is a thing. The Orb rate boost to PSY orbs is really the reason you pick him, will have constant orbs
- Special makes sure you will have orbs...provided no block orbs exist
Disadvantages
- God his special and lead are so redundant but his lead's orb rate isn't constant enough to be reliable
- Block orbs cause him pain
- Reducing the defense by 100% is neat, not useful major part of the time
- God 2.75x ATK to ONE TYPE is so bad for a legend please get it away
- Seriously, the RR version ( which you can get free? Unless that never happened on global ) does this too so why pick the legend?
Portgas D. Ace, The Sun that will Destroy the Darkness
Advantages
- 2.25x - > 3.25x ATK boost for a lead is really good, as long as you can keep orbs around you won't have problems speeding through fodder stages
- is the 2x ATK Boost for Shooters that they already had but hey, its on a legend you'd use anyway so its still useful
- Burst damage is good agaisnt fodder stages or Fodder in boss stages
- Shooters generally have good options to work with in terms of subs/f2p or not
- Amazing synergy with Boa V2, both giving shooters a fun 3.25x ATK boost when their easy conditions are met
- 1.5x HP is incredibly tanky, you'll be dying hardly much if you have the right subs
Disadvantages
- Shooters are already falling off in support so subs CAN be difficult for tougher coliseum content
- Losing the orb lock means needing a constant orb changer in order to keep that 3.25x ATK boost.
Sengoku the Buddha, Marine Fleet Admiral
Advantages
- 5000 Ray points!
- 2 -CD and boosting 29 cost under means he'll get GREAT mileage in Adventure mode when you're already trying to fit those random 4 fortnight characters per month.
Disadvantages
- 3.25x is too low of a boost when its only 29 cost or under. A very limited pool of units to work with
- Future proofing himself, since many good RR's will be +30 cost and won't be boosted by himself.
- Why does he only boost himself and other sengoku's by 3x?
- Why doesn't he give himself an orb either
- Why isn't his boost at least stronger than Raidleigh
Hawk Eyes Mihawk, The Black Blade [Yoru]
Advantages
- Constant 3.5x ATK with the only condition being hitting perfects, which you'll be doing anyway in fodder and boss stages with any other lead
- Hitting greats is fine too, 2.75x ATK is decent
- Have a boat that helps those perfects
- Special is one of only two that work off previous damage, and has a very unique niche to it
- Is probably the strongest lead thats there to pick but...
- Amazing synergy with Fuji V2
Disadvantages
Might be one of the lesser good ones to pick if you own no other slasher Leads
- TM Mihawk will prove to be a huge reason that INTHawk has a lower playrate, only because 2x Orb boost + 2.75x Chain lock is generally much more powerful than simply doing 60% of your previous turn's damage ( TM Mihawk is more immediate and a stronger multistep special )
- TM Mihawk is also a pretty great lead, 1.3x HP and 2.5x to slashers and 3.5x ATK when special's activated means he'll able to compete with INThawk, even if you own both
- They're both amazing Slasher Leads
- You can either go Inthawk with a friendcaptain and still have the ability to do 60% of previous turns damage.
- They both find themselves being put as slasher subs with much better slasher leads like Fuji V2
Lacks any HP boost or DR, so reliant on bursting straight and tanking with the little HP they have
Requires burst to happen before to get mileage out of special which can be ruined with mistakes or difficult team building
- This is more of a specific gripe. Inthawk other legends means you have to curtail teams so your burst happens not on the immediate turn but the turn before. So team compositions are different, such as sacrificing a component of another teams burst for utility or to survive the next turn, and as Inthawk doesn't provide any extra HP boost, this becomes much more needed the more you use him.
Bartolomeo the Cannibal, Straw Hat Grand Fleet - "Son's Cup"
Advantages
- A flat boost of 3x to Striker and Driven is incredibly good, since those classes are incredibly good.
- Selective DR is huge, with a 51% damage reduction means stalling can be very easy and efficient
- Special is a huge overloaded one to look out for
- Protecting from death for 1 turn is huge and irreplaceable utility ( Only Nico can compete )
- The added 1.5x class+orb boost for Driven and Strikers is great for using it to seal the deal before taking lethal damage
- Great Synergy with Nekomamushi and Doffy V2 to name the strongest Striker/Driven leads that Barto can benefit from having
Disadvantages
- If you're using his special simply for the death immunity, the 1.5x ATK/Orb boost can be useless
- Weaker than the strongest Striker/Driven leads
- Raid Barto is a huge part of Driven utility and cannot be used with him.
Monkey D. Luffy, Voyage Dream: Pirate King
Advantages
- 4x Atk for your final last 3 atks is still a huge and amazing for dealing with damage
- Rainbow, meaning most units you use will have use with him
- Possibly good 6+ ? Who knows!
- Can rely on strong friend captains like Lucy or Blackbeard to clear much needed fodder stages
Disadvantages
- Barriers can easily hold him back, especially if its without a supportive friend captain
- Special is really underwhelming in this meta, as 100k average may not be enough to clear fodder and only a self orb is terrible
- Many good leads that have 4x for all 6, not simply the last three
- Utterly terribly unfun to play with, constantly needing to stress over good-great-perfects!
The above analysis is really just an good overview, though not so much to sway you to/away from any particular unit
Personal Tier list
As its only 10 units, its pretty easy to give a good tier list of them, if you want to still know what to recommend/who to get yourself
Note, this is personal opinion and subject to change but its simply how I feel around these units
S Tier : Possibly the Best To Pick
- Bartolomeo the Cannibal, Straw Hat Grand Fleet - "Son's Cup"
- Rob Lucci "Life Return", CP9's Strongest
Barto+ and Lucci+ are within amazing classes and have stupidly amazing leads, as well as great friend captain options to over their disadvantages.
Barto is also amazing and honestly, the rarest kind of utility and you will never go wrong choosing him because the flat 3x to such incredibly strong classes is great. Also has amazing friend options from said two classes.
Lucci, personal bias maybe, but found amazing use for both Adventure Mode to Speed run through maps and Coliseums because a 12 CD charge on matching orb rate heavy boost is just too good to pass up. Especially if you lack a powerhouse lead, he will never go wrong for you.
A Tier : Great Options to Pick
- Portgas D. Ace, The Sun that will Destroy the Darkness
- Hawk Eyes Mihawk, The Black Blade [Yoru]
- Sabo, True Power of the Mera Mera no Mi
- "Dark King" Silvers Rayleigh, Right Hand of the Pirate King
Ace is one of the strongest shooter leads, though because of the shooter support lacking, falls behind to this tier. INTHawk, while possibly a better lead than Barto and Rob Lucci, still falls behind because players recieve a near/possibly even better one for F2P ( if you participate in TM that is )
As much as Sabo relies on TS Luffy for his team compositions, he still can compete with stronger captains because using him opens up a free space to be used for utility or extra burst in the case of Coliseum teams, making a much more rounded team.
B Tier Still good, but Lack in areas of concern
These are all great leads/subs, but rely a little too much on friend leads or fall off due to limited class options, or simply too low of a multiplier. * Whitebeard starts falling behind for tougher content that needs health and relies on tankier FCs to work and this doesn't always work * Ray relies on G4 or himself but falls behind when his rainbow capabilities dont make up for lack of a strong lead * Luffy while strong isn't a strong sub or falls to Barrier content that his FC cannot take care of * Boa is a C tier ( even worse really ) lead but her sub abilities make up for her.
C Tier : Not good
Shanks/Sengoku do not compare to any of the other legends in this list.
Okay this took a while but I hope this list throughoutly answers and helps tide over the decisions for you!
- Edit : Sticking with the Inthawk but clarified why he's not worth picking over say, Rob Lucci / Ace / Barto. But I think I still did him justice having him originally still in A tier to be picked. Moved Boa and Sabo up, was too harsh on them.

ENG Analysis Playing Bandai's Guessing Game
Bandai is very unclear of what will happen after the first wave is over with more to come. No one knows for sure and many people are uncomfortable with the current situation. Therefore, I’m happy to be your deputy community manager. I will be here for the next few minutes to make you feel better while explainingassuming Bandai’s point of view.
My only intention is to help people who are confused by Bandai’s statements. I am trying to interpret their notices as best as I can.
Where to start?
I think before I go into detail I should state which timeframe I am referring to:
”Start of GEM VALLEY💠 until maintenance.”
So, every action you did before the incident has no bad outcome for your account regarding a ban or whatsoverhopefully! You do not have to fear you could lose units you pulled before everything happened. Furthermore, all of my following explanationassumption is referring to this timeframe.
As expected Bandai is handling this situation on a step-by-step basis. What actually happened as of right now?
- "Rainbow gems obtained from erroneous mails have been revoked for the possible amount that can be reduced."
- This means that if you had 300 legal gems, opened 600 glitched gems and you did spent 600 gems on pulling, you should be back at 0. Why? Technically, you would have had -300 gems, but they said they won’t reduce the amount of gems under 0. That is why many people found their account being at 0 gems although they had legitimate gems on their balance before.
- ”First, they are going to reduce my legitimate gems to 0 and now they want to steal my pulled units as well. That is double punishment!”
- Let me get back to this later.
- "All of the erroneous mails have been voided. Please delete them individually."
- They stopped the inflation of glitched gems/items, which they should have done right after the maintenance tbh and a happy fu to everyone who kept the mails unopened, because it takes a lot of time to open every mail individually with the following game crash#DankeBandai.
Summary: They did. what they had to do in order to start cleaning the mess.
Exceptions from their actions:
- gems used for stamina refills u/khaiiization
- no bans in TM or S.G. rankings for using glitched units (u/ZodiakC39) and keeping the ranking rewards even after using glitched units in it (u/Mikasaz)
- Bandai stated no clause that using illegitimate units on rankings would lead to actions based on their ToS
- gained LB abilities on legitimate units (which were pulled before the incident)
- box expansions (I'm pretty sure they cannot reverse that, because they don't know which type of gems someone spent here)
So, congrats to those lucky players that did the “right” thing with their illegitimate gems. These actions probably won’t be either fully affected by Bandai’s revocation process or at all, of course if you did that before the maintenance. Otherwise there could be outcomes based on their ToSinsert scared Pikachu face.
Why am I sure about this one? First, I collected information from other users here in this subreddit. Second, there is no mention from Bandai for any of the points above. They never wrote something in regards to this, neither in their initial notice nor in the one from today. They are only referring to their ↓
Remaining Actions
Rainbow Gems and items that were distributed through this error will be investigated and revoked individually. The following items will be subject to the investigation:
That literally means that this is scheduled, but they do not confirm that to 100%. What I read out of this is, that at that point even Bandai wasn’t sure about the whole situation. In other words they could have written something like this: This is our plan, but eventually we are going to do anything what it takes to solve this situation. So, they say that everything listed below can change at any point of time.
”Characters recruited through the use of Rainbow Gems gained through this error.”
THIS is a big one and the main concern of everyone. You could think that only units pulled with glitched gems are effected by that. However, I don’t think so, because there are reports from players who spend both “right” and “wrong” gems and their gem count was reduced by the sum of both (u/Ristaman) Why is that?
In my opinion Bandai can’t distinguish between “right” and “wrong” gems on your account, they are treated all the same. What Bandai probably can is identifying if you got glitched gems because when you open a mail your account reaches out to their server to claim the rewards. So they can see who got glitched gems and how many. They can also see for what you used your gems aka how many gems you spent on sugos etc. Therefore, it should read like this:
”Every Character recruited from start of GEM VALLEY💠 until maintenance.”
That is why Bandai has deducted every gem from your account, even the “right” ones. Bandai will revoke every character you pulled during the timeframe and again, hopefully, compensate (not the 50 gem compensation, but rather a reimbursement) you afterward in a separate mail aka you get all you legal gems back in trade for the units. It is sad for those who pulled good units but you have to understand that there is probably no process for how gems are spent in the game (see LIFO/FIFO). Therefore, Bandai might have taken this approach.
”Training Points gained through various methods involving erroneously gotten Rainbow Gems will be revoked individually.”
Nothing to add. They were very clear on that part.
”Various items that were erroneously distributed will be deducted from your current inventory.”
Basically, if you used thousands of tablets/tomes before the maintenance you’re pretty safe. They are all gone and Bandai can’t punish you for that if your inventory is already at 0. Otherwise they will just reduce the erroneous gotten amount.
Still making mistakes? BANDAI??!
Of course, who am I talking about?! Some of us reported, that Bandai even reduced legit gems although there was enough for the reduction of glitched gems (u/Perce86). In a case like that I highly advice to reach out for them via the ingame inquiry feature. If you have some further proof of their mistake, it is even better for you.
What’s more??
Based on this section they repeated that the mails have been emptied. This paragraph is red meaning that this has been concluded. The other paragraphs are still white aka not concluded. So, no one has been banned, yet. And that is big news, because what I get from that is that your account could still get in trouble if you use any tome/tablet or used erroneously gotten gems for pulling, you got on their error, after the maintenance.
Please be aware of your actions before you decide to do something irreversible to your account.
I hope all of this clarifies a bit how Bandai might proceed. Again, this is solely based on assumptions and observations and clearly, I am no Bandai defender! They should do what a good game developer does: Communicate with their audience in order to keep yourself honest and deliver the feeling of taking care of their thoughts and opinions, but most of their concerns about the game they love.
Please, keep the comment section free from toxic and let us discuss in a mature manner.
Yours faithfully,
A guy who cares.

ENG Analysis Ambush Drop Data Thread - Part 2
Hey guys, just wanted to see if we could gather some ambush data for Global while we are going crazy on those runs, now with Shanks so we can see with a good sample size if his rates are really better than Whitebeard! So here is a form where you can send your results and I'll update this later with the numbers. Thank you for the help!
(Maybe) Important Edit -I'm seeing some posts with results in here, so I just wanted to remind that the results should be sent to this link.
- "Double stamina/double rewards" runs must be counted as one run. Same for their drops, duplicating them doesn't make any sense.

ENG Analysis Poll Results: Global Most Common vs. Most Wanted Legends
Graph: https://imgur.com/a/jc3yIhr (try clicking desktop site if you are having resolution problems)
Thanks for all the responses! Firstly I'd like to apologise that the graph has become an eye test. It was a choice between accuracy and visibility and I may have chosen wrongly. Hopefully you can all zoom in so it doesn't matter.
Secondly, Japan post should arrive tomorrow or the day after; I haven't had time to do a write up yet.
For those lazy readers, skip to the "awards" part for a fun TL;DR!
Link to polls from earlier this week
FINDINGS
Looking at the graph we have 3 main packs:
The upper echelon from V2 Doffy to Franky. Your top 5 were probably mostly from these 7 legends, if not exclusively.
The "still desirable" medium rarity tier led by Magellan, Shirahoshi, V2 Fuji, and ending with V2 Boa. You'd still be pleased to pull one of this lot, but they're just not in most people's top 5. If I had instead asked you to pick 7-8 wanted legends, this is the group that would've been impacted most.
Then there is the common or unwanted herd - from Log Luffy onwards. Marco and Croc are the top picks here. Most of these have been free legends at one point.
COMMON LEGENDS
Oldest legends are no longer the most common. Even the biggest Bandai haters will have to agree this is thanks to all the extremely generous freebies we've been given in the past year. Whitebeard, Rayleigh, Boa, Sengoku and Shanks are all outside the top 10 most common despite being the oldest 5. They've been replaced with the likes of V1 Law, V2 Lucci, Sabo, Mihawk, Jinbei and Zoro.
The fact that release order isn't a strong indicator of ownership also suggests there are now quite a lot of newer players in the game compared to last year. If everyone was a veteran, Whitebeard etc. would be the most common (which was true last year).
Rarest legends are roughly in release order however, other than Luffy/Ace who jumped to 7th most rare due to everyone going ham last sugo. Lucy is more common than the order should suggest probably due to rerollers. Same with V2 Law but due to the 3rd anniversary guarantee, and V2 Boa + V2 Lucci who were free legends.
Shirahoshi, Kizaru and particularly Inuarashi seem to be inexplicably hard to pull despite what release order should suggest. Bandai, this one's on you to explain...
WANTED LEGENDS
V2 Doffy took the lead in the opening minutes and just ran away with it. He is actually the third rarest legend (behind Robin and Franky) but it seems the attraction of his over-the-top special and playstyle is unmatched. And let's not forget his art and animations.
Initial 30 minutes: V2 Ray, Luffy/Ace and Robin were neck and neck (and neck) for second place, with Judge and Lucy not far behind. These early votes should reflect the opinion of the devout followers of the sub. But soon Luffy/Ace pulls ahead (*cough* the non whales arrive at the post). And after a few hours Judge and Lucy establish a truce for 3rd, while Ray and Robin agree to share 4th.
The legends that have aged best (still popular despite early release dates) are Shirahoshi and Magellan, which comes as no surprise. Hody, Buggy, Blackbeard, Aokiji and Marco have all aged reasonably too due to their unique appeals. V2 Law and Neko also remain high up despite being nearly a year old (*flashbacks of that sugo*).
2017 COMPARISON
Last year's top 3 sound laughable now - TS Luffy, Akainu, and Zoro. Blackbeard was 4th but he has aged much better for uniqueness reasons.
Buggy and in particular, Hody, have gone from almost hated legends to top 16. Super evolution has definitely rescued Hody, and also Aokiji though to a lesser extent. Marco remains fairly in demand despite no super evolution announced.
Perhaps most puzzlingly, there were a similar number of respondents this year as last year (~2300). I'm struggling to understand this as the sub surely has grown. It suggests the rate at which people leave behind the sub equals the rate of newcomers (post upvotes for the poll then and now being similar do reinforce this theory). However the number of legends that the average respondent owns has definitely increased. Most common last year was WB with ~1200 owners. This year it's V1 Law with 2000+.
Shanks, the most unloved legend in 2017 still had 41 votes back then. This year Jinbei has 8. We've gotten spoilt! And in 2017, TSL and Akainu were wanted by over 1600 people. This year only 1500 wanted V2 Doffy. It could just be that we have a bigger selection to choose our 5 from.
Last year, the Blackbeard phenomenon was observed on both versions (Blackbeard would be the most wanted legend among early voters in the first hour). This is no more. Now even early post visitors just want the strong new shiny stuff. Sadly I think this is an indicator of powercreep being bigger this year. There is a greater need to pull recent legends because they are just so powerful compared to older units.
It's not all bad though. The playerbase is happier than before. This is based off the fact that many more legends are now below the diagonal i.e. actual owners outnumber wannabe owners for all but 7 legends.
AWARDS
Bandai's best bait - V2 Doflamingo. Most sought after legend throughout the entire poll. "Humans are essentially just trash there to be used" ~ Bandai Namco Donquixote Doflamingo.
Most common - V1 Law. If you didn't already get him about 6 times during the last sugo, then you got him as a free legend (cuz you know... TM Big Mom teams right?) I wasn't initially expecting anyone to beat V2 Lucci but actually it makes sense.
Freebie squad - V2 Lucci, Sabo, Mihawk, Jinbei, Zoro. Runners up for most common. Everyone and their mom's OPTC side account that they used to play friend game with, has a V2 Lucci on global (well, other than Boa worshippers and certain Enel fanatics).
Best ager - Shirahoshi. Popular despite being released a while ago. Just like in the story, she just keeps on growing!
Worst ager - V2 Fuji. Only scraped into the top 10 despite being quite recent. Shouldn't have slashed those eyes...
Haters gonna hate - Buggy. Last year he was an almost unfairly hated legend despite being quite new. That seems to have subsided now. Hody shares a similar story due to his + not being announced yet last year.
Divine intervention - Inuarashi. Legend that is rarer than it should be according to release schedule. Bandai just don't want you to pull this guy. Anyone got any conspiracy theories?
Sidegrade done right? - V2 Law+. The only sidegrade that was more wanted than the original. This did come as a surprise to me. But it can probably be explained by the fact that 200+ more people own 6* over 6+. /couldn't let go of that striker team and want to pull another one.
Ehhhh but my fighters suck... - TS Luffy. Still more people own him than G4. Remember when that was the biggest debate on the sub...
Worst art - Kung-Fu Luffy. Not even relevant to the post. I just wanted to give him that title. Also, those 133 players who put him as a wanted choice... should've resisted that previous sugo huh. I'm sure they'll give him away guaranteed again...
How have I not pulled this guy? - Marco. 7th most common legend. But somehow STILL relatively in demand.
Fallen beast - V1 Lucci. You know it's bad when you're level with Sengoku. Sadly nowadays if you ask someone on the street about V1 Lucci they will give you a funny look and say they only speak in V2 Lucci. :(
Still down there - Sengoku and Jinbei are only too happy to have a new feline companion join them in the "less than 10 people actually want us" club.
Thanks for reading. Stay tuned for Japan results soon!

ENG Analysis Why I ignore Pirate Rumble from now on (rant and a bit of basic math incoming)
Originally wanted to comment this under the fluff post but it got a bit too specific.
After the last Championship with more than 4,000 points needed for top 500 I decided to be just not going to gem anymore. A short rundown of my reasoning (and somewhat a rant) follows.
TL;DR Pirate Rumble itself is no fun. The rewards don't pay enough for the time and gem investment they require. So I just ignore it from now on.
Reasons:
- I am F2P.
- I miss key PvP units. And there is no guarantee I get them.
- The competition isn't the same after the Korean merge and has risen significantly.
- Even with luck for defenses you need at least 40 gems to get that 4,000 points. (Or if, like me, you lose every fifth to tenth fight, it costs more than 60 gems.)
- If you don't go for top 500 from the start, you get even less tickets per win.
- You need a LOT of updating tries and time, when going for top 500.
- Once qualified for Pirate Rumble Championship you are guaranteed to get 5,000 tickets anyway.
- The not recent legend ticket reward is basically worthless.
- Rumble Scrolls are basically worthless now as well.
- The 30 gems reward isn't going to cover the investment (about 60 gems in my case).
- Spending time and 40 to 60 gems for a high rank (top 500) gives you an additional 3,500 tickets from the reward + about 4,000 tickets on the way. So about 1,800 tickets from qualification rankings, 1,900 tickets from the challenges, and maybe 12,500 from ranking high. About 16k per month, compared to maybe 8.5k if not gemming for a high rank in Championship. Meaning you get tickets roughly twice as fast.
- My gem tree is giving me about 21 gems per month (lvl32). Optimum is 36 gems per month. So in no scenario do I personally miss out on more than 15 gems per month. (Just for the sake of clarifying the difference at stake, calculation on the next bullet point.)
- In detail I am missing out on approximately ((21+21+24+24+27+27+27+252=423) - (21-21-21-21-24-24-24-24-27-27-27-27-27-27=342)=) 81 gems in total over the next 14 months in my case. After that there is no difference to the gem tree.
So what is my choice here basically?
- Spend hours for updating and getting random frustrating battle results. Spend 30 additional gems for doubling the speed of ticket income.
- Save time and nerves and get the gather island stuff at half the speed. Missing out on 6 (six) gems per month on average for about a year from the gem tree. Barely any other losses. Saving more than twice as much (10 to 30 gems monthly) by not gemming. AND not needing to pull on Pirate Rumble banners anymore. $$$
So in my case I save gems, I save time, I save nerves if I don't go for ranking high in the Championship. So I won't anymore until something changes.
(I ignore other delay of other benefits from gather island because they are very small. The amount of LB material from the mines is worth less than a few gems invested in TM stamina. CC after +80 barely makes a difference for the price.)
EDIT: Typos.
EDIT2: After reading the comments in this thread I came to the following conclusion.
PvP on GBL now has become like PvP on JPN always was - only worth gemming if you have fun going for the top ranks. If you miss good units or time or gems, just try to build a good/unique/easy to underestimate defense team. Then you can have fun and rewarding gameplay without gemming. Thanks for all the feedback!

ENG Analysis Missing Videos for Upcoming Content (Young Goku, Tamago, and Returning Colo's)
Hey guys,
It's me again. We need your help for the global clear rates page.
Without further ado, here are the leads that are currently missing videos for the upcoming content:
Missing Videos:
If you want to check the progress in the excel list, you can check it out here.
Rules for videos
1. Must be the full video of the run, no part way or boss only
2. Must have all units visible. Sockets/Specials aren't required but appreciated
3. There already isn't a video of higher priority in the area you wish to submit
4. We accept Japanese videos, but it MUST be possible for global to do it.
5. No event ships that affect gameplay. IE max special ship
6. No Zombie teams (any CA that prevents death under certain conditions)
7. If there is a captain swap on the boss only your captain will count towards the clear
8. No randomized killing specials like RR Shiryu and RR Kuma
9. For Colo’s with stage 3 variations we need a minimum of 2 of the mini bosses(side by side or corresponding) in the video. If you do 2 then a quick run down of the third boss in the video description is required
10. If the lead is not your lead but the friend captain, it must be possible to switch between the friend and your lead and not change the subs, or that it matters if affected by bind/despair/any specific effect to the friend/lead. ( Such as, if you have a Doffy/Mihawk run, and have a Doffy sub, this clear rate is only for Mihawk, not Doffy as you cannot switch him to your lead and have the same subs)
If you find any discrepancies between the excel and the GCR page please comment on the corresponding excel cell.

ENG Analysis Last day TM rankings - Post your points / ranking.
I thought it would be useful for those trying to reach a specific ranking to have info on where the "point thresholds" are at the last day (to see if you can actually reach a certain point, or have a rough idea on how many runs would you need).
I have to say: this has been the most exhausting TM for me so far. I know Smoker was also as bad (or even worse), but I didn't grind as hard as I did on this one.
So, just as the title says: Post your treasure points and ranking.
