JPN PSA Treasure Map, Kizuna and Pirate Festival now have a minimum Pirate level to play

u/rick_ts Promising Rookie Aug 19 '20
Fuckin finally.
Can we also have this on random events where those rerollers can't make anything out of?
24
u/luffysenpaiX Promising Rookie Aug 19 '20
A proper reroll account can easily clear 150 levels in less than 2 hours LMAO nice try tho

u/rick_ts Promising Rookie Aug 19 '20
Really?
Wow.

u/luffysenpaiX Promising Rookie Aug 19 '20
Ya you can usually get to lvl 200 within the first day of playing a reroll if you do it right, its mostly bc of the chopperman missions that skyrocket your levels
1
u/TheAngelofSouls Promising Rookie Aug 19 '20
How do you do that? I'm trying to get my level up because I'm at 181, but I've finished all the chopperman missions, completed up to Fishman Island, plus two treasure maps and almost all of the events that are available.

u/Crowleyer Promising Rookie Aug 19 '20
You need exp boosters to make it faster. Best possible way for now is to buy Arlong ship (x3 exp) + 2 Jack (2x2exp) and then do chopperman island, farm turtles or do clash/Colo units (x2 exp for the first time).
In my case, I did ~200lv with only Arlong ship in 1-2days. After ~20 days I have >330lv without even trying.

u/Secondstrike23 Promising Rookie Aug 19 '20
Where do u buy arlong ship and jacks?
2
u/xFroodx It's a style. Aug 19 '20
Arlong ship is only temporary x3 exp on Global for a few more days and then it is not the greatest starter ship. Would recommend Hoe over Arlong ship for newer players. Both ships are available by unlocking their special quest on the event screen (costs gems).

u/luffysenpaiX Promising Rookie Aug 19 '20
Sorry for the late reply but ya as the others said you need Exp Boosters, if you have 30 gems to spare I highly recommend getting the Hoe ship while you can, it's probably the best ship currently
Oh BUT if youre doing this on a main account, make sure you take advantage of the stamina everytime you lvl up

Should instead be limited based on the age of the account.

Well, got to say that it seems a bit counterproductive...
Lv 80 is 529,557 PEXP (TM, Kizuna)
Lv 120 is 1,776,223 PEXP (PVP)
Lv 150 is 3,460,579 PEXP (Challenge tab on extra island)
If they do all the chopper missions (the exp ones), they'd get 925k raw PEXP (that is, assuming they don't have an EXP ship - which a beginner won't have usually, nor exp captains - since neptune is an old RR and jack is a legend - and neptune colo is locked behind plvl 150, ironically). If they're smart enough, they might notice that the chopper exp grows and maybe use the freebie x1.2 PEXP captain (if they're still given out), with both of them, that would be 1.3M PEXP.
Chopper would obviously help them reach lvl 80 (and be half-way+ from lvl 120), but without him, it's not exactly a short trip (especially till 1.7M and 3.4M) for a beginner who has no idea that high EXP captains/ships exist. What I don't really get is :
TM, in East Blue, is SUPER casual and beginner FRIENDLY (the main boss has like 50k HP, come on.... and you can use one team for all the fights). What's the point of locking it behind 500k PEXP ? It even has an auto-sail feature they could use that requires no unit at all.
Kizuna, the easy mode, same thing : the bosses start at 30-50k HP, so even with the various mechanics, it's stupid easy to beat them bruteforce (especially since mechanics are shorter/less in the easy mode). Imo, here, they should've locked the medium/hard difficulties based on plvl, rather than the whole mode.
Pirate festival : it's like a totally different game. While the pvp itself requires some (decent) units at least, the problem is, that it has facilities that give daily free stuff that can be useful for beginners... And so they can't unlock them until plvl 120 (at least the easy ones). (plus, can't properly estimate the playerbase now... XD)
Challenge tab : huh.... 3.4M PEXP ? While colosseums have the easy mode (beginner friendly) and the intermediate one ? And forests that can help test teams out, test tap timings for free ? And Garp challenges, where the first ones are DESIGNED for beginners and reward some lobsters at least?
I understand the idea of locking "higher" content for beginners, such that they're not completely lost, but plvl isn't the right way, imo - and particularly, not locking entire modes that have easy difficulties adapted for beginners... Kind of kills the whole point of those easy difficulties by locking them at higher plvls. At plvl 150, the person could probably throw a team for the intermediate colos already, for example...
Plvl would be a good indicator for progression IF we didn't have such disparities in terms of PEXP gaining : a base team will have a x1 EXP multiplier, while it can have a wide range of combinations between x1.2 EXP and up to x12 during big events (x7 otherwise). And a level-up speed between x1 and x7, it's clearly not the same.... in comparison, reaching plvl 150 with x7 EXP multiplier requires LESS exp than to reach plvl 80 with x1 multipliers.... Doesn't really make sense, does it?
So imo, they should've designed a "progression" roadmap that guides progressively players through everything and unlocks things progressively, rather than throwing them in the nature with a "random" plvl lock on some features ("random" since the speed to get there will depend on the RNG of exp captains/boats).

plus, can't properly estimate the playerbase now... XD
We may be able to estimate the active player base based on % rankings during TMs now. Although there are some flaws that you've pointed out before, I think this will be our best guess
1
u/WootieOPTC GLO: [SNY] Usoland crew / JP: Wootie Aug 19 '20
Thing with TM is that it's an old mode, so... not sure how many % of players actually participate in it (kind of like, if you remember, for PF where I was able to be near rank 120k in season 1, but after that, i'd be closer to rank 60-70k with 1 point, despite starting at a similar delay...
And are the fixed thresholds gone now, or they coexist with the % ones? (or we don't know yet?)
What sucks for PF, is that if this plvl 120 lock was there since day 1, it means a good bunch of people weren't even in when I did the estimate...

u/FateOfMuffins Doktah Carrot Muffins Aug 19 '20
At some point though, I think we kinda want to redefine what we mean by "active" playerbase. You get like 5 gems from super low point rewards just by playing TM once. Can you really be considered an "active" player if you don't bother with that at least? Screw getting 1M points for the units, just get like 5 gems from 15 min of game play.
So you can see that as of this moment, 18.6k players have played in the NW since TM went live 10h ago. IIRC there should be ~25k? players in NW. At the end of TM, if say only 20k players have played, it means the inactive 5k PLUS the lowest 20% of active players (4k) would be removed from NW. That'll be upwards of 9k players demoted when before only like 2k players get demoted.
1
u/WootieOPTC GLO: [SNY] Usoland crew / JP: Wootie Aug 19 '20
Ah, so there's till a rank, with an additional % indicator. Don't get the demotion, though : before, it was 8k to stay in, right? (or maybe the JP number was different). And now, it's 80% ? And do we know if the inactive ones aren't included in the stat? (e.g. 25k players, 5k of them inactive, so if one of them would get 1 point, wouldn't he land in the 80% directly then? (being part of the 20k active/25k total)
1
u/FateOfMuffins Doktah Carrot Muffins Aug 19 '20 edited Aug 19 '20
IIRC JP was
23k22k/25k to stay in NWAnd yes, inactives are not included in the stat. Early on when I did my first run, I would be rank 2k or something and show up as top 50%. /u/fideliast's first run had him below 80% and a demotion icon was present beside his rank
1
u/WootieOPTC GLO: [SNY] Usoland crew / JP: Wootie Aug 21 '20
Well...when I said that a lot of players don't care about TM, I didn't expect....this..... xD
(P.S. this also confirms what you said about inactives not included - since with 1k points, I was 19k at 99%, and later with 60k points, rank 20k at 50%).

Nice, we were missing someone to give us info about EB.
So GL currently has about 28k, NW about 21k and EB about 38k? So about 87k total in comparison to 120k you got from PF.
Hmm what's shocking is the low amount of pts in EB. It pretty much seems the vast majority of players in EB simply play for the free 5 gems or so from doing 1-2 runs. If you max the unit you're pretty much guaranteed to move onto GL.
Now 87k/3 = 29k. Eventually each league will have the same number of active players, so in the long run it might be easier in NW thanks to redistributing EB players who actually play to GL and those GL players to NW. EB will essentially be dedicated to all players who don't give a damn about TM whatsoever.
But NW will lose players for this first month (thanks to inactives) and won't grow to >25k (our old size and the # of players to maintain 20% = 5k) for a while. Simple model assuming all currently active players will remain active (unlikely because it would seem that ~4k players in NW are inactive despite MUST being active last month)
Inactives would reduce the # of players in NW and increase the # of players in EB (when old players return for example)
IMO they should've just included the inactives in the bottom 20%. Instead of promoting top 20% and demoting bottom 20% so that league sizes converge, they're also removing the inactives IN ADDITION to that, which will mean NW league will reduce over time (and thus make rankings harder).

u/WootieOPTC GLO: [SNY] Usoland crew / JP: Wootie Aug 21 '20
Well, I'll check the points/rank near the end of TM (if I don't miss it xD), to have a more precise number, since as you saw, the player size almost doubled during the second day.
But what about the choice of a league? In EB, I had the choice between the 3 leagues (EB, GL, NW - though of course, the other 2 were locked), and once I chose EB, the choice disappeared... So if a NW player today chose GL for example for the current TM, I suppose he'll only compete in GL ? But then what, next month he'll be in the league based on his GL ranking today ? So if a NW today choses GL, grinds it and ends in the top 20%, next month, he'll be in NW again, with the choice of 3 leagues again? Sounds a bit weird as a concept xD Although, I guess someone who doesn't want to be in NW and wants to stay in GL, could then grind GL every week (maybe even aim for #1 or whatever) without the "problem" of moving up to NW because he's too high.
1
u/FateOfMuffins Doktah Carrot Muffins Aug 21 '20
I honestly have no idea what happens with that. Are those players who chose a lower league participating in the lower league rankings? I'd imagine so cause I don't understand how there's so many inactives in NW otherwise.
But if they do, what happens if a NW player participates in GL, and then proceeds to not make top 20%? Are they in NW or are they in GL next season?

Could you breakdown the exp gain from chopper missions?
I can't find any correct information on that anywhere online.
1
u/WootieOPTC GLO: [SNY] Usoland crew / JP: Wootie Aug 21 '20
Sure. The info should be out there in this sub, just that since Bandai has revamped the chopperman missions a few times, it's hard to determine what's the "latest" information.
Chopperman 0-Sta quests (currently on Global) :
No.1 : 1,000 PEXP, 7,777 berry //(+1000 FP choppy)
No.2 : 4,000 PEXP, 7,777 berry //(+1000 FP choppy)
No.3 : 20,000 PEXP, 7,777 berry //(+1000 FP choppy)
No.4 : 30,000 PEXP, 7,777 berry //(+2000 FP choppy)
No.5 : 70,000 PEXP, 7,777 berry //(+2000 FP choppy)
No.6 : 100,000 PEXP, 7,777 berry //(+2000 FP choppy)
No.7 : 200,000 PEXP, 7,777 berry //(+2000 FP choppy)
No.8 : 500,000 PEXP, 7,777 berry //(+4000 FP choppy)
The PEXP indicated is the raw (base) exp, without any multiplier. So for example if you use the currently boosted arlong ship (x3 exp) and double Jack captains (x2 exp each), that would give you a total multiplier of x12 (=3x2x2). So with that configuration, the quest n°7 for example would give 200,000 x12 = 2.4M PEXP :p
The +XX FP choppy are the friend points given for finishing the quest, they're part of a chopperman mission associated with those 0-sta quests. In case you spend your FPs in the tavern and don't want the ones from choppy go to waste :p

u/Snowcrest Best Girl Aug 21 '20
Thanks so much!
I've been searching for this info for so long.
I fucked up Chopper#7 cause I couldn't find the base exp, then put in too many multipliers and ended up just straight over-leveling.
Gonna squeeze in Chopper #8 sometime later today to get enough runs for Ambush Linlin while we still have guaranteed skillup.

How about putting a minimum level on the lottery too. That's where it's actually needed.

It is on our version, it’s the locked thing when you go to the mode selection. It’s a PvP mode that we won’t get for like another month or more (maybe less, I don’t remember).

my rule of thumb is only to grind if you got a TM point booster for bonus and final bosses. Otherwise I just farm the standard million and I'm done.
