There was a theory that Saturn and the other Elders weren't physically on Egghead and the monster form was just a remote summoned puppet, hence the apparent immortality, since it wasn't the actual real body.

But I noticed that in a panel at the start of the chapter it shows the room where the Elders were, and now it's empty, with just a magic circle on the ground. I guess this disproves the theory. The Elders are actually physically there, and everyone's fucked.

Saturn was shown on the ship going to Egghead.

I know, but the theory I was referencing argued that since we never saw him get off the ship, just directly teleporting himself in demon form, that he was actually still back on the ship, remotely controlling the demon summoning from a safe place. So attacking the demon form was useless, it couldn't be permanently damaged, since it was a projection, and to win someone would have had to find the real body still on the ship.

I was never a supporter of the theory, but until now nothing in the story contradicted it. However, after this chapter it's no longer realistic.

Well, theoretically speaking, it's still possible that those Elders aren't real but puppets. It would only mean that there were never real Elders, but always puppets in the first place.

True, that's still a possibility. But that's already a completely different theory. For one, it still means there's no vulnerable real body, so we still have to solve the problem of their apparent immortality.

Well, luffy can now defeat them and move closer to the end of the series.

Let's be honest, Luffy isn't defeating shit this arc. I think it's quite clear that all the Elders appearing on Egghead was done to force the Strawhats to actually run away like initially planned, since until last chapter they weren't really threatened. Now they're going to be lucky if they can even delay them long enough to let Vegapunk's message be spread to the world.

Honestly that theory always seemed crazy. If they were truly holograms why would they have even shown being damaged a la Saturn losing an arm and horn.

There is definitely something to holograms being introduced early on in the arc.
