It's certainly interesting that Ju Peter is SO different from the rest. Not only is he the only one whose demonic form (or perhaps true form?) is not from Eastern Mythology, but it's really not even from mythology at all.

Sandworms, as you noted, are entirely a creation of modern sci-fi and fantasy fiction starting in the 20th century, and no one has ever believed in their existence except cryptid-believers in the Mongolian Death Worm, but this does not seem to be based on that and even if it is, there's no solid evidence of Death Worm legends going back to before the 1900s or maybe late 1800s.

Him standing out that much from the others in those two notable ways does lend some weight to the possibility of the Traitor Theory regarding the Elders.
