It was probably one of the first moments Kuma realized Luffy could actually change the world like Nika.

Before Thriller Bark he was just intrigued by the similarity to Nika, but seeing Zoro and the rest of the crew's resolve towards Luffy was what fueled his decision to do what he did in Sabaody (especially considering we see how spur-of-the-moment it actually was; he witnessed the Human Shop incident and nearly immediately after would send the Straw Hats flying).

It's probably because I just got done watching W7/Enies Lobby with my girlfriend for the first time but seeing Franky's "FUCK YOU" to Kuma on Thriller Bark and then his flippant hearty laughing over Carlos getting laid out was a highlight of the chapter for me. He's been a real one since minute one and I love him.
