Everything here looks perfect, only thing missing is the brown sauce! Home made lingonberry jam has always been part of our Christmas dinner too :) never had apples with it but I’m sure the sweetness is great!I hope you enjoy your time here, and I hope you enjoyed Christmas dinner!

Apples can be divine, much for the same reasons svisker are. You should try it at least once. :)

Fried apples and prunes mix are commonly used as sides for turkey. If a whole turkey is cooked, the mix is used as stuffing. It fits good with any dry bird meat. I love it.
Our xmas dinner is both ribbe and turkey. Parents had each their tradition they didnt want to give up on.

What is that white sausage? We were once given those sausages and trash bags were full of them. It tasted like it was made out of saw dust.

It is "medister" and they taste awful. I will never understand people who are able to eat them. And yes I'm Norwegian. I felt very bad for this dude when seeing this plate, so much medister trash and so little delicious ribbe

Legit my favorite part, the medister kake og pølse. We also use the small white sausages.

I'm not sure how to feel about this. Never been a fan of medisterkaker or julepølse. And tyttebærsylte (lingonberry jam), apples and prunes have never been part of my christmas dinner. Quite frankly I find the lack of kålrotstappe disturbing. The small black spots on the rind makes me suspect a blowtorch has been involved.
I'm still sure that someone on the east side of the country will applaud this as the perfect Christmas meal, served like their grandmas used to.
Edit: Yeah, that was a bit crass, sorry about that.
I'm used to both mutton- and pork ribs for Christmas. The cured mutton this year was from one of these guys: https://imgur.com/a/4oJ8enp , and it was splendid.
Kålrotstappe (kålrabistappe) this year:
* Half of a big kålrabi (swede), diced.
* Three carrots, diced.
* One medium potato, diced.
* Boiled until soft.
* Discard the water.
* Add two big spoons of butter.
* Small pinch of nutmeg.
* A teaspoon sichuan pepper.
* 2 dl cream (i used lactose free light cream)
* Blend with immersion blender.
* Salt and pepper to taste.
* Add more cream if necessary, and perhaps some gravy from the pork.

People around the country have different traditions, even different families in the same area have different traditions for what’s included on their Christmas plate. Don’t yuck someone’s yum - this person is probably very excited to be here at all, especially during this season full of so many traditions, and to try some of the Christmas food that Norway has to offer

Hopefully you are at someones home and were being very polite when filling up because that is the saddest amount of pork belly i have seen in any Norwegian Christmas plate
At a restaurant i would have bitched and moaned
