Mira Mesa vs Carmel Valley

Hi All, I’m searching for a 1 bed room apartment for rent in these 2 areas as they are close to my work place.

Can you guys please help me choose 1 considering my priorities are safe kid/family friendly neighborhood with elementary school in walkable distance and close access to grocery stores.

My budget for rent is up to $3200 per month.

Pointers to specific apartments will be appreciated. Thanks for your help.

Carmel Valley is more upscale than Mira Mesa. If you can get into a feeder elementary to Torrey Pines HS that is the best public HS in all of SD County.

I thought the mira mesa has lot of close by shops compared to Carmel Valley.

Most definitely. Mira Mesa is highly Asian populated and there are tons of great restaurants, plus pretty much every store/shopping area a person would want. It's also older, kinda drab and some parts can be a little sketchy. Carmel Valley is a sea of Teslas, yuppies and tech people, but the walkability is fairly poor.

Thanks for summarizing it beautifully.

Appreciate more if you can share any known apartments that I can consider in these 2 areas.

Carmel Valley has better schools and probably less crime. But much more expensive rental prices.

Check out Scripps Ranch. It’s on the other side of the 15 from MM. Quiet neighborhood with good schools.
