This right here! I missed trying to jump in on Cablemod's this year, everyone trying to get those coveted "First" spots. I wonder why they didn't join in the fun?

Thanks to all the generous vendors, and congrats to all the winners! Happy Holidays and New Year to all!

Same, honestly. Wondered why Drop didn’t join in too, although they gave away a lot during the giveaway event earlier in the year.

I wonder if maybe all the melting cables fiasco, and how good/quick they were at making things right w/ customers, put too big of a dent into profits for them to be able to join the giveaways this time around?

Drop did some giveaways on the Mech Group Buy discord server that was revived recently. Probably why there aren't as many giveaways this time around.

Yeah, I was in on those, just compared to giveaway week earlier.

That makes sense, they did the 10 rounds giveaway here 3-4 months ago too.

Thank you for the giveaway even if I didn't get anything. First time in this sub because I'm interested in these keyboards and I was surprised at the amount of the giveaways that it had. It made a lot of people happy I'm sure.

I hope next year I can be a part of this sub for real when I build my keyboard, although they are quite expensive, but they should be worth it in the end 😁

It's sad to see how dead this sub is but when a giveaway is announced thousands of comments show up. Vultures.

Also don't forget that like 90% of these people have an alt or 2. So divide these comments by 2 or 3 and that's the real number.

Even with some people using alts and messing with the odds, it’s still better odds than most online giveaways. I’ve managed to win a first comment keycap set from Drop in the past, but never a raffle. Still, always fun to see new products and ideas

Speaking of Drop, they were missing this year too right? They might be who I was thinking of when I mentioned getting "First"

Yeah, that was Drop. Honestly, I was really impressed with the generosity last giveaway week, so I don’t blame them at all for not participating in here this week. Although, the Reddit people said Drop would be in, so I don’t know.

I thought so! Didn't some mix-up happen and they ended up being cool enough to go ahead and give a bunch more away than initially intended in one thread.

Yeah they did, they accidentally double-posted, but gave away to people in both threads, if I recall correctly. Which was really generous of them, and further improved my opinion of them.

I thought so, I remember laughing because I didn't win either time lol

Haha, fair. I actually did pretty well, won first comment two days, and my wife got first comment a different day. Of course, meant we had new keyboards to build, but that’s the whole point of keycap giveaways

Ohh I never even thought of that! I was speaking to my dad before about how many people are into these giveaways, but this might make a bit more sense

As much as I enjoy mechanical keyboards, I'm not obsessed to the point where I actively post about my keyboards frequently or even comment. Or even browse the subreddit casually.

Casually enough to catch the giveaway post ;). No but in all seriousness. There are more than enough alts and people not even part of the community that join in on these.

Well yeah I think the alts are an issue as well.

I just stumbled upon one giveaway post in my feed mentioning the giveaway week, and then I remembered "ah, it's that time of the year. Gotta participate in everything 💪🏽"

I'm sorry it sounds like you have yet to win something from a raffle.. The odds are quite low if you do the math but no need to be negative about folks entering a raffle!

Odds are there's not much to say about a post aside from "wow that's cool" or "where'd you get X, Y, or Z?" or some other iteration thereof. Doesn't mean the sub is dead. Its got 1.3m members last I checked!

It’s also a great way for noobs like me to see what’s going on in the maker space. I’ve got my eyes peeled!
