Her blinking during the silence is so damn adorable and funny

u/rottenheadset 3d ago

She's buffering

u/TDOTBRO 3d ago

“Excuse me I’m in the middle of something…”

106

u/Svelva 3d ago

Wait, we haven't been trained for handling these, what do I do??

24

u/denalimoon 3d ago

So funny and cute!! She doesn’t know what to think. LOL

238

u/anotherkeebler 3d ago

She's smart: she's thinking, "Shit, I need to to come up with something better than tantrums. What was that 'use your words' crap they were saying the other day?"

159

u/North-Apartment9355 3d ago

Lmao you can definitely see the wheels turning and processing going on. I love how she keeps trying to cry thinking “ ok ok it’ll work this time”

68

u/viperfangs92 3d ago

Maybe if I cry longer and louder......

6

u/N1ck1McSpears 2d ago

Idk how old that kid in but my toddler does this. It’s so hard not to laugh at her. She’s the cutest

u/mizinamo 3d ago

I’ve also heard of parents lying down on the ground in a supermarket, flailing around, to make children blink and realise they are being ridiculous.

464

u/ungratefulshitebag 3d ago

That's how I got my son to stop throwing himself on the floor in the supermarket. Surprisingly effective.

I've got picture after picture of him having tantrums on the floor in the street. I'd tried lots of things - ignoring the tantrum, talking and validating his feelings, being firm. Nothing worked. Having my own tantrum a couple of times stopped it altogether

47

u/oO0Kat0Oo 2d ago

Honestly, we practiced just leaving my daughter on the floor and just stepped right on over her.

She would get scared we were going to leave her and pop right back up and run after us.

412

u/r3tract 3d ago

I did that with my son once, he wouldn't go shopping with me after that 🤷😅

246

u/numberonealcove 3d ago

You should have done it before his 35th birthday.

67

u/r3tract 3d ago

Yeah, probably 🤷

One trick I learned as a male nanny is when the kid is crying, I go "Hey hey! My turn!" all excitedly then I fake cry.

They stop and watch, then I go: "Okay, your turn!" and they cry for a short time then I go "MY TURN!"

I ask then to go again and they stop.

865

u/Deadmodemanmode 3d ago

Sometimes hearing how silly you sound helps realize you should stop 😅🤣🤣

Can confirm. At home I was the Golden Child and as far as my mom was concerned I could do no wrong. I never knew how annoying I was until I caught another kid at school imitating me behind my back. I was horrified into cleaning up my act and the transformation was immediate.

67

u/a_shootin_star 3d ago

If only half the people in this world had that kind of introspection and acted on it, we would be so much better off. Kudos to you for pulling through being a GC.

u/theunstablelego 3d ago edited 3d ago

Talking out loud does the trick for me..... but then I get funny looks from people when I do it in public and the cycle restarts

29

u/Purple_Bumblebee6 3d ago

Talking outlook

???

47

u/[deleted] 3d ago

"You've got mail"

10

u/mothseatcloth 3d ago

out loud, I think

6

u/Purple_Bumblebee6 3d ago

That kind of makes sense

5

u/theunstablelego 3d ago

Lol yeah didn't see the typo until just now

Edit: holy shit i can't English today

14

u/Bamith20 3d ago

In my case I did this to a niece and she did stop crying... To walk over to her parents to tattle on me that i'm going "wah wah" at her.

5

u/viperfangs92 3d ago

Teach them early 😂

7

u/ColoredGayngels 3d ago

My dad used to do this lol. I do it when I know my niece is pulling out those crocodile tears. Babygirl you're almost 2 I know you're not THAT upset about not drinking from my cup instead of yours. We both have water. I can make that noise too.

110

u/livie_avocados 3d ago

She has a talent for this 😅

56

u/[deleted] 3d ago

Did this with my goddaughter once, she stopped and folded her arms and made a literal "harrumph". 🤣

95

u/i_did_a_wrong 3d ago

This is hilarious 😂 kids can't deal with it when you turn their shit back on them

75

u/Ohio_Baby 3d ago

Oh those big blinks! 🥹🥰🥰🥰🥰

103

u/Queen_Kaos 3d ago

I used to do this to my nephew, works every time 😂

66

u/BlameMe4urLoss 3d ago

I looked this woman in the eye… I said biiiiatch.

40

u/Bazoun 3d ago

I’ve done this with kids having a tantrum and it works quite well.

[I would never do this to a child in real pain (physical or emotional).]

16

u/FustianRiddle 3d ago

Man I wish I could do this at work to the kids who cry crocodile tears.

16

u/BirdInFlight301 3d ago

That is a gorgeous little girl! Her reaction is so cute, you can see her trying to process what is happening.

11

u/bibbidybobbidyboobs 3d ago

Fucking rekt lmao

29

u/Candid-Solid-896 3d ago

The most adorable eyes I’ve ever seen on a child!!!

But that was really funny. Thanks

20

u/Interesting-Train-47 3d ago

Applauding tantrums (clapping, cheering) can also be effective for stopping them.

3

u/TheRealLost0 3d ago

genuinely curious, how so? I would imagine it could do the opposite

18

u/Bebenten 3d ago

I'm not sure but maybe 'cause applauding/cheering wasn't the reaction kids would expect out of tantrums

10

u/Interesting-Train-47 3d ago

Shocks them and makes them think they're doing something wrong to get the effect they desire. Shut my youngest granddaughter up in a flash when I did it to her a couple of times.

6

u/TheRealLost0 3d ago

huh, parents made me think something like that would encourage bad behavior and make them entitled, interesting

21

u/human_cheetopuff 3d ago

The tantrum is the reaction to being denied their bad behavior, not the original bad behavior itself. Children are very aware that you don’t like their screaming and crying and know there is a chance of you doing what they want just to make them stop crying. By pretending you’re enjoying it you are giving them the opposite reaction they were hoping for (annoyance or pity).

1

u/Dreamsnaps19 2d ago

So the idea behind a tantrum is that they’re not getting something they want.

They tantrum because at some point someone has given in and given them what they want.

For most kids, cheering them on isn’t what they want so it will stop the tantrum.

This could obviously easily backfire when attention is what the kid wants. And you’ve now rewarded the kid with positive attention.

8

u/runonia 3d ago

She was ready to fight at the thirteen second mark this child was not actually crying this is so funny omg 😂

7

u/gnarWizzard420 3d ago

I tried doing this to my niece and I got in trouble by her mom cause she said I was gonna cause trauma for making fun of her…..🤦🏻‍♂️

9

u/realisticallymagical 3d ago

The blinking hard to make the tears come at the end was too funny. She was like "stop cutting in!! It's my time to be dramatic!!"

10

u/brian4nu 3d ago

Love this. I’ve used this technique before. It teaches children how ridiculous they’re being.

6

u/OtulyssaOwl 3d ago

Unrelated but her hairstyle is beautiful!

7

u/Serialfornicator 3d ago

She doesn’t know how to handle that! Haha

4

u/UnusualFerret1776 3d ago

My mom would do this to us to make us stop our nonsense.

5

u/salsasharks 3d ago

This works on my cat too

7

u/VanIsler420 3d ago

Well trained that crying gets her what she wants. It's not crying it's acting.

6

u/BenadrylTumblercatch 3d ago

“This is not a duet!”

14

u/All_I_See_Is_Teeth 3d ago

3

u/LemonFlavoredMelon 2d ago

OMG I'm holding back tears from laughter!

3

u/graciexlol 2d ago

HAHA the way she blinked hard at the end to try and get the tears spill out

1

u/SokkaHaikuBot 2d ago

Sokka-Haiku by graciexlol:

HAHA the way she

Blinked hard at the end to try

And get the tears spill out

Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

3

u/Siren_striker 1d ago

She’s like “that’s my line”

3

u/Wabtytl 1d ago

That’s how you know she’s faking it

2

YOUVE FOUND THE ONLY WAY TO MAKE THEM NOT CRY!!!!!

2

u/kai5malik 1d ago

Sometimes I show my grandson a video of him when he was little having a meltdown, because he took his shoes off 3 times and expected me to keep putting them back on...he looks at me like "whose that hot mess?"

2

u/Unique-Ad-9316 1d ago

She can turn it off and on at will. Which means it's fake crying.

3

u/zorggalacticus 3d ago

This is the cutest video I've seen in here in a while. When she looks into the camera with those big eyes, it's like she's doing the Puss in Boots stare. This, folks, is why daddy's little girl usually gets away with murder. Lol too adorable.

2

u/Shattered-Shadow-Sky 3d ago

The kid is so confused! But this is so funny

2

u/Conscious_Sun576 42m ago

She is soooo cute lol

1

u/WildMinimum2202 3d ago

Why she got that eviebot facial expressions?
