And yes, I know know Kendrick is pgLAng now, but his contribution still feels like a big win for TDE

Thank you, new LA Head Music Honchos (was gonna say Top Dogs, but that was counterproductive. Considering no one is including Tyler's album. Im not a fan, but his album is making numbers out there)

he said in the heart p6 he wants to focus on himself be a businessman and such

Key part is “yearning for independence” and he moved on creatively. He didn’t want anyone else to have a final call on his shit and wanted to be the decision maker, instead of having to check in with Top and others.

i do feel like kendrick’s status and how much he has proven himself i don’t think he had to check in with them and they would never try to overrule his wants in making an album

I hear where you’re coming from, but the other artists on the label gotta eat too. Kendrick would definitely be an attention magnet if him, Q, and Jay Rock all dropped separate albums right next to each other

I think an important thing you remember is that pgLang isn't just a record label. They're basically a multimedia company. They've done ad campaigns with Cashapp, produce short films, and they even have a movie set to come out next year with the South Park guys supposedly directing.
You could say that Kendrick is in spirit still with TDE as he seems to still be close with the label and it's affiliates. He just wanted to branch out beyond music. That's why he he said "creatively, I moved on with new concepts in reach" on heart pt. 6.

Why have any middle man or label besides your own - when you sell 600K+ on your first week for “DAMN.”

On the video for Squabble Up I definitely thanked TDE, pgLang, as well as the fried and egotistical negroes forcing Kendrick's hand.

Kinda wish we’d gotten a Jay Rock album this year. All four members of Black Hippy dropping in one year would have been special.
