Dogstar Super fun night out with Dogstar at the Roxy in LA last week! Here’s some (excellent) Keanu energy for you to enjoy.

Thank you for introducing me to Dogstar. Looks like they only have one single out yet and it sounds good! Looking forward to their full album!

Totally! The real bummer is their old songs just aren’t available on Spotify/streaming (yet?). Looks like the new album will be, so that’s cool for any newer fans, myself included.

I feel bad for the rest of the group. We're they playing without him for a while? And now that he's back they're probably getting much larger crowds. It's like in Almost Famous when the lead singer tells Crudup's character, "Your looks are a problem."

I mean, not to be a dick but the only reason they are relevant at all is because of Keanu. The band is just a few guys having fun. They'd be lucky to play a dive bar without him. I'm sure they don't mind. Plus they are all old friends and have been jamming together for a long time.

I think all three had just lived entire lives during their hiatus and yeah, just looking to get back in the game of having some fun. The crowd was a VERY, very even mix of older (read: 50+) and younger fans, and the Roxy is so miniature (500 people capacity!) so there’s no opportunity for flocking crowds.
Everyone was cool, absolutely nobody heckled or called out Keanu in excess, Bret did allllll the talking and Rob on drums was high energy, which helped to evenly distribute the focus. Honestly, the chillest show I have ever been to in LA in terms of people not being obnoxious 😂 Maybe just out of respect for Keanu and his friends!

This "phone generation" is insane, have to record it and it will be lost forgotten about in no time. How about live in the moment, enjoy the presence, and live in the now.
I mean I'm all for taking a few pics and maybe a short video. But to sit there the whole show watching the performance thru a little screen vs just taking the whole scene in baffles me.

Right.. Like what the hell.... 🙄
Who goes back and watches videos like this on their phone? Just enjoy the experience.

On the one hand, I totally agree with you. I hardly ever record moments like this because I'm enjoying myself in the moment too much.
On the other hand, I am super grateful for people who do this, as it allows me to experience a bit of a moment I am unable to. Specifically, I'm going to watch Dogstar in a couple of weeks and wanted to listen to their music a few times before I go, as I enjoy music that I'm familiar with far more than music I'm hearing for the first time. A lot of this music isn't publicly available, as they're playing songs from their new album, which won't be released until October. So the only way for me to familiarize myself with most of their music is via videos like this one, and one kind soul put together a setlist of the night.

Hey, late comment but do you know if they did any autograph signing before or after for general admission peoples?
I'm going to see them tomorrow and wondered if I should take my copy of BRZRKR to try and have signed.

The show I saw preceded the official tour, and I heard there was an afterparty immediately upstairs at the Roxy that everyone bounced to afterwards—so no lingering around that I heard of!
I did see that the other shows had VIP experiences for sale so you could take a photo with the band either before or after the show (?) so maybe there’s more opportunity to catch them, but that might be limited to people who paid for that ticket type.
Seems unlikely, but you never know what can happen…?

Also, semirelated, if you sort of just want an autographed treat in general, you could watch and see if they restock the signed albums!

What song from dogstar is this ?

u/newspaperzine Jul 25 '23
You'd think people would know, but they played nearly (if not every?) song off the new unreleased album! I too hope to figure it out in October once it's out.
Someone did manage to figure it out in a setlist somehow, which is great.

THANK YOU for finding this setlist!!! I'm going to be attending his concert in a couple of weeks and have been listening to Dogstar music to prepare. Unfortunately, only 2 out of the 12 songs of the album that will be released in October are easy to find. It looks like 4 of the songs from the setlist aren't on any easy, publicly available sites either. Which means if I want to listen to most of the music they're going to play ahead of time, I can only listen via videos like the ones you linked.
I really appreciate you following up with the link!

Nooooo problem, setlist.fm is such an awesome resource, I find myself checking it all the time to see if certain bands are gonna play songs I know or not.
I got tickets to see Dogstar in LA again, so I too am excited to know a few more songs ahead of time this time around!
