First journal Bought a journal to write instead of texting my ex - plan to fill it and burn it.

I used to love writing, it helped me during the tougher days of my youth. Then, I stopped. It’s been nine years since I last wrote anything meaningful.

Instead of texting my ex to spill out everything I’m feeling (which would only lead to a dead end and damaged friendship), I’ve decided to write it all down. A journal feels safer, like a place where I can confess everything without worrying about the response.

Maybe it’s naive, but I think this might help. Losing hope feels like the only way to find freedom, and I’m trusting this journal will allow me to confront whatever is stopping me from moving on. Once I’m done, I’ll burn it… or leave it for our future kids 🤪

I’m having a bad brain day. I wrote three pages of rant about a social situation that’s really been bothering me, then decided I needed to end on a positive note. I recently picked up journaling as an extension of meditation and therapy and I find it’s been cathartic. I no longer bottle up my thoughts and want to vanish when the anxiety is too much.

Be kind to yourself today. ❤️ I am proud of you for being you.

I feel like I can’t just write and keep writing on a page because i’ll get bored halfway through, so I’ve been putting little stickers and stuff in it too lol. For now it’s lists but I’ll be writing from prompts/writing thoughts when I feel like it

I couldn’t be more happier. Never I had imagined I would love writing so much. Being my first journal I was too sceptical. I thought I would loose interest (like all my other hobbies). But I didn’t and almost after a month I have successfully finished my first journal. Can’t wait to start my second one.

First journal Feeling disappointed.

I brought myself a new Moleskine notebook to start my journaling journey as I had heard many good things about the quality of the paper and how well they worked with fountain pens. Only to find that the ink bleeds right through so I can only write on one side of the page. Fortunately I had placed a piece of paper between the pages - something I was taught to do when I was at school many years ago - so it hasn’t marked the following page.

I actually feel quite upset about this as I haven’t used a fountain pen for years and decided that it would be the ideal tool to allow me to get thoughts down on paper and I thought that the Moleskine notebook would be the ideal first journal. Obviously I was mistaken.

First journal Every year I buy a book to start journaling, every year I fail. HELP

I'm in my late 20s and things are getting messier. I've been told that I have anger issues, and for a really long time I did not believe it until I broke a gadget recently because I was overstimulated.

As the title suggests, I really want to start journaling in 2025 but I think my methods are not working for me. Sometimes I get tired of writing, so I tried typing. Even that did not work. I do believe that the best way to journal is by pen and paper. I actually don't know how to even start writing. What do I start with- jump to what I'm feeling? Write down the event that occurred? I don't want to end up amplifying the negative emotions.

AND, I'd also like to know the difference and it's usage between dotted and lined journal. Which type of book is recommended best for journaling.

Thank you in advance.

This is my first time being consistent writing a journal and I don't even feel like I'm "forcing" myself to write on it, I actually love it and look forward to it!

One of the reasons why I'm journaling is to mitigate impulsive purchases and impulsively in general. I wanted a cuter journal, but I was good and bought a 70 cent notebook instead! I just purchased it today and I'm already 3 pages into writing :) So excited to see where this journey takes me

I just stumbled across this subreddit and it only took a couple scrolls before realizing I have the perfect entry to post. I don’t have any writers in my life or anyone who journals, so maybe you guys will appreciate it a little more than them.

Hello,

I just thought I might share some pages of my first art/junk journal I ever created.

I don't have a nice handwriting and I also don't have good imagination when it comes to drawing/sketching/painting but...well... It is what it is :)

First journal I feel like it’s too late to start journaling

Hello I’m 20F and want to start a journal where I can just write about my day, rant and vent about things that upset me and get it all out my mind and just have fun.

I wish I stared a journal earlier in life because I feel like nothing eventful is happening or will happen anytime soon. I have no passion no career path I’m doing online everything cux I have health problems so I have no friends (like at all not even 1), etc. life is so boring for me I feel like I won’t have any memories to write about or anything eventful and idk if it’s worth starting a journal now

I wanted to write about all my Highschool experiences but they’re all pretty negative and I feel childish for being stuck up on them at this age still so idk if that’s worth putting down 😭

And idk if I should start now or wait like 2 weeks h Tim I turn 21 ans then start like it’s a new chapter yk?

Any advice and any ideas on fun things to journal even if nothing happens for me to personally write about?

Also I want to print things out that I enjoy but all I have is a black and white printer so I feel like it will be so dull and dark looking 💔
