Discussion - Flaired Users Only Anyone interested in a subreddit that would be centered on debunking “woke” hasbara like that of rootsmetals and Hen Mazzig?
I find their type of Hasbara to be particularly dangerous because they weaponize their identities as Jews of Color and dress up their propaganda in the language of social justice, portraying Zionism as “decolonization” movement to appeal to young progressive Jews (and others) to prevent them from defecting to anti-Zionism. Also Debbie does a lot of historical revisionism about Jewish diaspora history and denigrates diaspora Jews which pisses me off to no end, and Jews deserve to learn diaspora history from a leftist and anti-Zionist lens. Would anyone be interested in starting this?

If this is something people would be interested in, I can talk to the other mods about adding some sort of ‘Debunking Hasbara’ post flair.

They don’t really debunk it, they just make fun of it. I want something a bit more educational

I’d love to see this but it’d be more useful in the IG space…but they could probably easily get that mass reported…

Probably, but it’s hard to do that as one person. With a subreddit people can crowdsource knowledge. Maybe the subreddit could also have an IG account.

Among non-ashki & non-white Jewish anti-zionist folks we find the term "brownwashing" useful to describe how Zionists like Hen Mazzig abuse our histories to paint Zionism as an indigenous MENA-Jewish liberation movement and an anti-racist movement. So perhaps r/BrownwashingZionism or similar

Omg!!! Never heard of the term but that’s good to know and a smart way to describe it.

Please please please yes, I've seen so many people reposting Roots' blatant misinformation and straight-up racism, someone needs to call out her and Hen Mazzig's lame hasbara

Ugh yeah and nothing about Hen Mazzig is “woke”. Just proved that a gay Jew of color can be a racist fascist with idiotic takes

I'm not a big fan of approaching anything as debunking. I find it very rarely changes minds because it's combative from the get go. I'd be interested if it were to be a discussion forum and you had at least one mod with the opposing perspective.

I think this is as pointless as the debunking approach. There’s no point trying to argue in good faith with people committed to their own goodness or to mindlessly virtue signal that bad people bad.
I do see value in understanding what drives people to ultra nationalism. One of the factors is a sentimental belief in the essential goodness of a cause which drove Germany to murder 6 million Jewish people across Europe.
Ultimately the work we do is no ourselves and our own blind attachment to goodness, that can feel unsatisfying but it’s more powerful than any amount of hasbara.

The "opposing perspective" is Zionism and I'm not interested in giving any space to Zionists. They already have the mainstream media and dozens of paid hasbarists on social media. Jewish history isn’t up for debate. There’s facts and then there’s Hasbara.
