Anti-BDS laws in the USA are some of the most draconian, regressive laws in existence - and it seems like the majority of Americans don't even know they exist. I think if we want to turn the tide against this harrowing development, raising awareness of the existing laws that enable this abusive use of capital is key.

I'm gonna personally donate $50 to 3 groups listed in this article. I will not let these rich conservative assholes take down a network of nonprofits in their bloodthirst for genocide.

There's a book by Prof. Lila Berman called 'The American Jewish Philanthropic Complex'.

I have it but haven't read it all the way through yet. Just parts.

During her press for the book, she briefly spoke about some historical examples of how philanthropy came with strings attached and then some more current-day examples, such as how politics re: Israel affect institutions.

I posted about Prof. Berman's book back in 2021 when there were significant notable acts of protest from within the community - like Rabbi Shira Stutman calling Israel's actions 'ethnic cleansing'. Ultimately she apologized for saying that.

She faced significant backlash and Simone Friedman, Head of Philanthropy and Impact Investment at EJF Philanthropies, resigned her position on the synagogue’s Board of Directors after they refused to condemn Stutman’s remarks.

There was another notable story that year when a pro-Israel megadonar at a California school withdrew funding for a department after a critic of Israel was made the chair or something.
