Edward Said explained why so well in his book titled "Orientalism"
Arabs as well as muslims have undergone a long process of dehumanisation through the media to the point where we see it as the white man's burden to save the "savage and backward" Orient from their own barbarity (another way of saying their livelihood).
We see muslim women as oppressed or forced to wear a headscarf when most of them do so to be closer to God.
Westerners are led to believe that the "savage and barbaric" religion of Islam (the same one that produced intellectuals like Avicenna and Averroes) are out to get them and drink their blood.
To the point where we no longer see their children as equal to our children, or their blood and tears equal to ours.
A similar process of Oriental dehumanisation was employed by Israel after the Nakba where thousands of soldiers who were part of the Haganah, Irgun and Palmach suffered from PSTD after blowing up homes of Palestinians while they slept, burning Palestinian children alive etc.
This allowed Israelis then and now to feel comfortable (or maybe even pleased) seeing dead Palestinian children.

I remember seeing that video so clearly. It shattered my heart into pieces. Justice must be pursued.

A man who knew to love and so he did. Zionists deserve all that they do unto others.
