Best Restaurants

Hi Jakarta crew. I’m a bule food vlogger and I recently made a video ’Top 10 Restaurants Jakarta’. I actually got some great help from the Reddit Jakarta community to help me choose some restaurants. Anyway, the video was popular and I got lots of comments from locals regarding their favourite restaurants. So I thought I’d make another video ‘Top 10 Restaurants (As requested by you) Jakarta’

So I need your help again please 🙏🏼

There’s over 30 restaurants that have been recommended so need your advice on what should definitely make the list. Probably I will only have time to visit 12 or 13 of them to choose the top 10 from. My other consideration is that I want the restaurants to be diverse and representing different parts of Indo food culture, so ideally it won’t just be a bunch of minang restaurants or something like that. Anyway, I hope that makes sense. Thankyou in advance to anyone who helps, I gave you a shoutout in the last video and it’s closing in on 40k views. Anyway, here’s the list:

Lapo Porsea (Batak) x2 Bebek Bumbu hitam Madura Tinoor (menadonese) Noesaka Gulai Singkong Rawon Tungjang Pea Adhita Jaya (Balinese) Nasi Uduk Mas Dikun Ketoprak ciragil Pelangi seafood Layar Marpadotbe (Batak) Ayam Goreng Suharti (fried chicken) Sate khas Senayan Ayam Gepuk pak Gembus Pagi Sore (Minang) Bakso rusuk Samanhudi Bebek Kaleyo Bakmi GM Bandar djakarta Cabe ijo Ayam goreng suharti Sari Indah (Minang) Marco (Padang) Bale Lombok Wiro Sableng Gardens x2 Bumbu Den (Menadonese) 212 Kelapa Gading (seafood)

x2 means it was recommended twice. Really looks like some amazing food in there but I want the list to really resonate with the locals, probably sate Khas Senayan and Pagi sore won’t make the cut.

Thanks everyone ☺️🙏🏼

If you want diversity, my vote would be Remboelan. They have vast menu from all around Indonesia. Check it out here.

Remboelan is my favourite restaurant

If that’s the kind of restaurant you’re looking for, then I can recommend Lara Djonggrang. It’s a step up from Remboelan you’d find in malls. Make sure to book reservations ahead of time tho, they can be hard to get tables for walk-ins.

Oh too bad you’re only reviewing Indo food. DM me if you feel like having steak at my restaurant!

Cafe Bogor Oxtail soup. It's originally in the Borobudur hotel, but you can also find it in the Pacific Place Mall and Pondok Indah Mall Street Gallery. Check out their bbq oxtail soup. One of the best things you can find in Jakarta.

Perhaps too late but I’d say: August should be on any „best restaurants in Jakarta“ list

I didn't like August much and found ESA and charkoal much better but I guess this is limited to Indo food. Not sure if I'd call August Indo either though

Maybe best value Indo restaurants but certainly not the best. These are all mid tier $.

An example of more high end Indo food would be at places like 1945 Halal at the Fairmont Jakarta. Their fermented cassava tart cooked to order is one of the best desserts from any restaurant I've eaten. Classy setting.

You need a bigger budget.

It’s just restaurants requested by viewers. Not my Top 10, I’ve already done that many with bigger budgets

Telaga Sampireun is a good place to have a traditional food with a "village" ambience

Good luck on your exploration! Hope you get some good food all around.

PS: I’m curious, on the other end of the spectrum, which western food in Jakarta do you like the most as a bule/foreigner?

Thankyou, that’s a great question but tbh I’m obsessed with South East Asian food so in Jakarta I love exploring the local food. I do like Bakerman in Ashta mall and I had some western food including Pantja once too, which was good but pricey.
