A UN decision where many nations today were under colonialism and had no vote on the decision. A UN which had no right to give the natives' land to the colonizers who declared themselves colonizers and moved in with the goal of ethnically cleansing or exterminating the native population.

Biggest single mistake of the UN history

There's also the Korean war.

The Korean War didn't create an apartheid state.

It did kill 2.5 million people though.

Depends on what you think the purpose of the UN was. If you think it was meant to be an international forum for diplomatically solving conflicts between nations and providing a framework for international cooperation on shared issues of concern then yeah, it’s a huge mistake. If you look at the UN as a global forum for preventing the outbreak of war among the victorious WWII allies then it was a shrewd move. It took a huge potential cause for war and offshored it to a region far away from them where through proxies they could vie for influence and keep the slaughter far away from home. If creating Israel had really been about making a safe place for Jews after the Holocaust then a chunk of the newly conquered Germany would have been carved out and handed over, not a chunk of colonized land that the battered world powers could no longer hold on to in the ways they had in the past.

Genuinely curious. Why didn’t the Israelis just outright be done with it and expel the Palestinians from the WB and Gaza. If they had all the power and backing, who would’ve stopped them?

As a french person :

Fuck no.

He has tanked the country’s economy, he keeps helping the far-right rise, he is emptying the public fund to offer them to the richs who are using it to buy medias and manipulate the people etc

He is a despicable human being.

Yeah i mean, he's a liberal that's his purpose

Exactly. Their other purpose is turning into an unisex public bathroom when they thankfully die.

And the Nazi's, don't forget the Nazi's. And all the Jewish families who couldn't afford to be deported from Nazi lands. While rich Jewish people were choosing to move to Palestine under the Havaara Agreement, they chose to leave their poorer brothers and sisters in Ukraine, Poland, Denmark, etc. to be slaughtered. The modern state of Israel was founded on the destruction of millions of their family members. What's even more ironic is that a reformed Nazi saved most of the Jewish people of Denmark. While some rich Jewish people ran to Palestine, he was calling every Jewish person in the phone book to warn them the Nazi's were coming. Sometimes all the money in the world can't buy integrity.

It didn't take long for the Settlers to start attacking the Palestinians either. The act of forcefully displacing Palestinians for resettlement was prevalent since the beginning. It's also important to note that early Israel military forces did what the IDF is doing now, protect the illegal settlers and terrorize the Palestinians to get them to flee in fear, as opposed to keeping their own settlers in check.

Prior to the formal declaration of Israel in 1948, Plan Dalet was the last phase of Zionist settlement before the formal declaration of Israel. The overall goal of plan Dalet was to seize as much territory as possible from the Palestinians so as to come out with a larger portion of land.

A stopgap measure? Or is it so that macron can say they tried something.

Between this and the US suddenly talking toughish to Israel, it almost feels like a strategy, especially knowing Israel is going to strike Iran soon. (Although the US move may just be to appear to be following the law)

And Bibi corrected him saying it wasn’t because of the UN. It was because of the 48 war.
