I think that somebody should separate out oval passes from road course passes, how much more difficult the latter are. It'd be interesting to see breakdowns of each.

I'd be curious to see that stat as well. Probably be Colton Herta. He seems to be the most comfortable making passes on road and especially street courses

To no real surprise, Santino Ferrucci by the numbers had the most overtakes (aka passes) in the series for 2024. Combination of him usually being a poor qualifier which gives him ample opportunity to make passes and him having huge stones on race day. Even if you hate Santino off the track, I think most by now recognize that he's electric on race day.

2nd on the season in passes is Colton Herta. This is also not that much of a surprise as much like Santino he's electric on the track and very brave making some stunning passes. He generally qualifies well though

3rd being Veekay was a surprise

To nobody's surprise, Santino Ferrucci! I don't think anybody likes him but what he was able to do in that dump truck was absolutely mind blowing. I won't be surprised if he lands somewhere a lot better once the contract's up

TIL Penske cars are “dump trucks”.

You and I both know that car is still very much a Foyt car.

Except for the Penske dampers, engineers, and being part of Penske engineering debriefs.

I think we can all agree that it’s not the Foyt of old either.

Lol yep. I think we all should be agreeing that it's clearly not the Foyt cars of old but certainly not a true Penske either.

Somewhere in the middle

Penske dampers a generation behind what the Penske cars run, AJ Foyt engineers supplemented by one Penske race engineer, and zero Penske debriefs, but who’s counting?

They’ve helped, but let’s not get carried away here — there are plenty of AJ Foyt Racing employees who deserve credit for the team’s performance in 2024. It’s reductive to think otherwise.

Thank you. I swear Ferucci/Power said they were debriefing together after the Portland pole but you’d know better than I!

Now that Malukas has allegedly been "recommended" to Foyt by Penske, let's see how the team performs with two well regarded drivers.

Google it or search threads here. I'd rather not get into it yet again

Saying hateful things about a teammate, texting while in his racecar, wanting to run a maga livery, his attitude towards other drivers

He’s been better recently and I don’t believe in cancelling people, especially at such a young age, but I still find him annoying
