imagine if there was i love a daddy’s girl
it’s so weird but it’s so normalized still because it’s son & mom. imagine if a 23 year old girl slept in bed with her dad & the dad was all over her. since it’s men we laugh along.

There is a dad/daughter like this on tiktok that basically got shamed into nothingness because of it.
Such a double standard for sure. A show like that would never fly

There's a fucked up double standard for sure. But I think it has more to do with the traditionally expected role of the parent than the role of the child.
With moms/sons - it's because the (bio) mom literally gave birth to the son and likely played a more prominent caregiving role than the dad. Therefore, for people who believe that it is "normal" for a son to be attached to his mom don't see the extremes we see on the show as just that, extreme and worthy of concern.
With dads/daughters - there is some toxicity that DOES show up in these dynamics. For example, the idea is that the dad protects the daughter and gives the final approval on who the daughter dates. People definitely make jokes about this -- like dads greeting their daughters' prom dates with guns. The dad also holds some power over determining her sexual life and worth in the eyes of others (e.i. fatherless women believed to be promiscuous and lost). This is more of a normalized moral judgment in some ways.
Either way its fucked up... I agree that this show would receive more backlash if the genders were reversed.

The one mom thinks her son is her deceased husband reincarnated....that's disturbing.
