Since the options do not depend on the value of alpha, plugging alpha = pi/4 should be enough to give the solution.

Anytime I see TRIG - 1 (or A +/-B), I try thinking about conjugates or difference of squares.
If you multiply the first rational to get sec2 - 1 in numerator and the second rational to get sin2 - 1, two things will happen.
1) Pythagorean identities can be applied
2) Common denominators.
The pythagoreans will result in reciprocal identities leading to 1 and -1
Because of the common denominators you’ll be able to combine the rational expressions and get 0 over the common denominators.

Change everything into terms of sin(a) and cos(a)
What do you get and how can you simplify?
