Canceling Health Insurance Plan before choosing a new one

An email from Georgia Access said its best not to cancel my current Marketplace plan until I've signed up for a new one. So, I'm shopping for new ones but its saying their prices may chance January 1. If I wait til January 1 to sign up, and then quit my current/older plan, will I still owe for January on that plan? Thank you for any feedback.

They should prorate it, but you would be better off getting it from the horse's mouth ... Ask them?
