Wife and I are working through It Takes Two and I had to show her how third person shooter controls work. She didn’t realize she could run and aim down the sights at the same time, while rotating the camera.
It all suddenly clicked for her after I laid my hands over hers on the controller and showed her. She’s never really been much of a gamer, but has always taken an interest in and supported my hobby.
She is genuinely very excited to get back to the game because it’s like she’s unlocked a superpower for herself.
I’ve also been playing Sable. I didn’t read anything about it. It’s been sitting in my games list because I guess it was a PS+ freebie at some point.
I’m genuinely pleased with it. The art style took some getting used to, but it reminds me of the old school weird Adult Swim bumpers they used to run when I was a kid.
The only issue I have with it are some performance issues and stuttering. Other than that, it’s a beautiful, open sandbox (literally) where you can go where you want and do what you want. There’s no combat or stakes, so it’s very relaxing. I highly recommend it.

Sable really caught my attention when I first played it, but put it down after 2 or 3 hours. I definitely have to be in the right mood to play a game like that (all ambiance, no combat, etc). Hope to get back to it soon. I'll echo all your comments on it and recommend it to anyone who likes the vibe it presents.
The theme song is fantastic and is performed by Japanese Breakfast for anyone familiar: https://youtu.be/ej5-CHAGr34?si=dirdO8UCIvjqe2O6

Got the goosebumps the first time you’re let loose into the world on your hover bike and the theme song started playing. It was really narratively satisfying and thematic.

Yes! Such a great gaming moment. Reminds me of when you first paraglide off the intro island in BoTW

So you've probably seen the headline about Jonathan Blow saying that Elden Ring is poorly designed. I wanted to see what he actually said so I checked his twitter account and realised that he's some kind of gamergater or something like that and follows Grummz. What a time to be alive.

Hopped on GamePass for the first time in awhile and downloaded Stalker 2 and Wildfrost. So far it's been 90% Wildfrost, 10% Stalker lol
Stalker just feels a bit... obtuse? In that I really need to dive in to git gud and make it an enjoyable experience. Whereas Wildfrost is right up my deck builder roguelike alley and I've stuck to it like a fly to glue haha

Gamer confession:
Every time I find a glitch, combo, or something powerful that I love in a game, I dont post or reveal it because I know all that will happen is that its going to eventually get "fixed". I tend to find something cool or even an exploit and I will keep it to myself because Im tired of everyone posting about it, blowing it up, and then the devs nerf it.

Im either starting to feel like Crytivo is a scam publisher, or they just have an unfortunate string of partnerships under their belt.
I noticed they mostly "fund", and publish games that have been on Kickstarter, or already had a successful Kickstarter. With the exception of Trench Tales, who I was following before they even started a Kickstarter, and have been very active with public updates and communication, most everything else they are connected with has been in limbo.
One of the most recent examples that feels a bit fishy to me is some game called Farm Folks. It was brought to my attention from one of the recent Steam Fest events, and so I checked it out. Once I started digging into its history though things seemed a bit off. When you look at it, there are 2 games called Farm Folks, and both being published by Crytivo. The 1st Farm Folks had a successful KS campaign ran by Overgrown, but then it went dark around 2018. Now its 2024, and this 2nd version of Farm Folks that looks very different to the first one is about to launch a Kickstarter of its own, and you would think maybe its a different game with the same name, but the evidence doesnt seem to point in that direction. When you look at Crytivos Twitter page, they are of course marketing and promoting the new Farm Folks and linking its pages. When you look at the 1st Farm Folks games KS page, if you click the links, it sends you to the very same updated Farm Folks page as the new one with Crytivo.
So all of that just seems strange and a bit shady. A game has a successful KS, goes dark, pops up years later and shows up an updated visuals version of the same game and is about to start another KS campaign. And you could say, well maybe Crytivo probably doesnt know, but again, theyre publishing/funding other already successful KS campaigns that have publicly gone dark.

So this is related to a thread I saw in the cyberpunk sub, but for gamers with kids, do you plan on showing them games you had as a kid? Trying to get them into the PS2, Gamecube, Whatever your favorite generations of gaming were so they enjoy those eras as well and want to complete some of those older games or maybe even starting them out with some of those older games, or nah?

I watched Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
Massive improvement over the second movie. I smiled and laughed a couple times, which is damn rare for a movie to do it.
Because the movie is 90ish minutes (does running time also count the credits?), I felt like Gerald Robotnik and Maria could use way more characterization or at least have more screen time together.
There is also a silly retcon where GUN now existed for 50 years rather than setting up after Sonic 1's events. Eh, whatever.
Otherwise, a lot of story moments in this movie didn't feel like a "subplot" (ex. Bar fight in Sonic 1, bar dance and wedding rescue in Sonic 2). The pacing was fine.
I played a lot of Sonic Adventure 2 Battle on GameCube when I was around 9 years old. I leaned forward in my movie theater seat when a certain song started playing.
