Photo Ferrari NYC
I thought the F80 looked way better in person— so low to the ground and futuristic. 12Cilindri looked great as well.

Maybe a stupid question but why the black bar on the nose?

I believe it is a throwback to the 365 Daytona. Looks similar to me.

It is. It's their new design language too, which debuted on the Roma and is on the 812 replacement.

I love how this entire sub was bitching about it on the release. I'm glad folks are coming to their senses yet again.

I love that it brings a lot of design cues of the f4 when the others really didn’t. Love those wheel wells they are sweet.

Amazing to look at. A bit wanting in the emotion and soul department, when the loudest part of the car when it flies past you is the tire noise.

Still hasn’t grown on me. Surprising to me at least considering how much the W1 has grown on me

It's hilarious how their suv is getting NA V12 while the next and greatest of them is equipped with a 6 cylinders hybrid. But I'm not in the market for a 3 million usd based price car, so what do I know.

That’s what the Icona series of cars is for. The halo hypercars have always been about showing the latest in racing technologies and applying them to road cars, and that’s what the F80 is. A very similar powertrain won Le Mans and is doing well in Formula 1, so it goes in the latest hypercar. If people want a V12 so bad, there’s thousands of old cars and the Icona series that have those engines.

I said it before and I will have to say it again. No the 'pattern' that you are so sure of regarding their halo cars' power train does not exist. Did f40 have the f1 engine of Ferrari F1 team at the time? No. Did laferrari have the Ferrari's f1 powertrain at the time? Again, no. I don't completely disagree with your logic of Ferrari using some of the latest tech in their halo cars but to think it's a straight forward this and than that's why type of relationship is simply delusional.

- Enzo (V12) didn't even use the Ferrari F1 V10s that powered them of winning in their greatest F1 era of x5(6 if u talking WCC) WDC F1 championships in a row. It's kinda contradiction to that statement when Ferrari never put their greatest F1 era engine their V10s in their own Ferrari production cars if you want to add to that.

288 GTO: turbocharging
F40: composite materials
F50: homologation of V12 for sportscar racing (333 SP), also derived from F1 block
Enzo: semi-auto gearbox, active aero
LaFerrari: hybrid
F80: V6 from LMH, electrically-assisted turbocharger from F1
All the halo cars had something relevant.

If they put a V12 in it it'd be slower than the SF90. Wouldn't make it much of a halo car

They could of easily throw money in making their V12 faster than the V6. Easier way to produce more power fit the hybird and either increase the displacement or fit turbos. Problem is shareholders and the rather awful environmental regs in the way. I think the former is the one they're way more want to please than the latter.

I agree but I also understand. It’s meant to be peak technology, and probably something to do with environmental crap. I would love it too be v12 but it’s not

u/Normal-Information57 1d ago
It's not to do with the environment. There's a v6 in the F80 because the v6 is ferrari's current best engine, the one that they've poured the most time and money into developing that's used in all of their motorsport teams

Noone has ever accused Ferrari of being good for the environment. The F80 gets 16mpg

u/IrishJayLG 1d ago
No but in 2025 I’m sure the governments have imposed certain rules. I’m not saying it’s an environmentally friendly car. I’m saying they were probably restricted by legislation an net zero blah blah

Beauty of a car, but it’s not my kinda thing. I’m happy for anyone that can/could afford one. Personally, I think they’re pieces of artwork. I’d be too scared to drive it.
