General Why did max not get a harsher penalty I'm mexico
According to the rules causing a collision with a championship on the line would result in a points deduction but does that not apply to leaving the track and gaining and advantage or forcing another off the track? Another question is was the collision in silverstone 2021 too early too say there was a championship on the line or is it because it wasn't on purpose? This rule is really confusing me

I dont think there is a rule that says this.
There is a rule against unfair behaviour, unsportsmanlike conduct and any attempt to influence the results in an unethical way.
What does and does not fulfil these criteria is a matter of judgement.
Furthermore, the stewards do have the general option of deducting points as a penalty. I personally have not seen an incident anywhere near bad enough this year that would warrant such a penalty.

As others have mentioned there is no such rule. The only thing that comes close to what you're saying is that Michael Masi clearly warned Hamilton and especially Verstappen in the race director's notes before AD 2021 that any attempts to deliberately crash into each other would result in points deductions/disqualification from the championship. That warning was based on existing rules, but in general there is no specific criterion on whether there is a title fight and certainly as far as the rules are concerned any rules on the handling of incidents affecting said title fight.

Even if there was that collision rule (there isn't), was the championship "on the line" in Mexico? Max was over two race wins (354 points to Lando's 297) ahead before the race started.

This post appears to discuss regulations.
The FIA publishes the F1 regulations.
Regulations are organized in three sections: - Technical for the design criteria of the car - Sporting for how the competition is executed - Financial for how money is spent
