I try not to drive towards that wall that you’re driving towards.

So not to do the corner and just stop there? I only stopped to take a picture of the corner

Dude, it's simple brake bias towards the rear turn in before you even reach the corner .

No worries homie sometimes the hardest obstacles require the simplest solutions.

I usually lift before the thingy on the right side then turn in and put it in the gas a lil
9
u/TreeTheLegend 2d ago
What do you mean by lift and sorry because I'm still finding out all the features
40
u/leontee217 2d ago
Not stepping on the accelerator so I let the car coast abit while not losing too much speed

u/eholla2 1d ago
Traction is constantly balanced between acceleration, braking and cornering. When you “lift” you allow maximum traction to be dedicated to cornering. It’s also the reason that it’s most efficient to brake and accelerate in a straight line. Doing either while applying to much angle on the wheel pushes the tires past their limits, causing understeer or oversteer respectively.

u/squidbutterpizza 23h ago
Lift as in no gas. You lift your legs off the gas pedal and turn in and add gas.

Recommend putting a bit of practice in, start by driving at around 20% throttle, get around it nice and slow, feel out the corner, then slowly build up your pace. Eventually you’ll be able to attack it at 100% pace and get through it consistently.

Use the full width of the track. Exit of previous corner point car to the right and get it close to the barrier. Straighten wheels under braking before turning. Ease off brake whilst turning until car is straight and apply throttle briefly up past the castle before the next right-hander.
Baku is about keeping things as close to the wall as you can get without making contact. Good luck!

u/No_Wedding9558 2d ago
can you do this turn if you turn on the anti lock brakes assist setting?
2
u/Endslikecrazy 2d ago
Ofcourse, that makes it easier
2
u/No_Wedding9558 1d ago
just wondered if op's problem is only his breaking that makes the car under steer and hit the wall, or is he also suck at driving with cockpit view.
1
u/Endslikecrazy 1d ago
I think he said hes really new so i guess he just doesnt know the tracks well enough if i had to guess.
But being new i also doubt he turned abs off :p
2
u/Racebugyt 2d ago
Not easy, but only practice solves it. You need to take it with enough speech that you do the corner and the slight chicane all in one motion
2
u/Salt_Tennis_9773 2d ago
lift on the entry, don’t overthink it either. trust your line, use the whole track obviously keeping it out the barriers, lots of practice use flashback and just flow through it as many times as you can eventually it’ll come to you
2
u/AltBriss 2d ago
Get close to the left wall and then legit throw it to the left. You don’t think you have the space but the racing line is just around the short bend.
2
u/squidbutterpizza 23h ago
Disable the racing line, that just makes this harder giving you a false judgement that you need to accelerate through the turn. Just use your best judgement to make this turn and not necessarily fast and with further practice you'll improve your speed through this. Simple.

Brake earlier than you think, turn wheel to the left, and take the corner in one motion. Add a little throttle up the hill, but not too much.

Some of those street circuits are a killer. Three factors, acceleration, braking and turning, you have to prioritize one of the three!

Me personally, it’s one of the few turns I cheese because it makes me so uncomfortable. I pull up to it in FP and use rewind until I find a comfortable breaking point. Do another lap and rewind cheese it again. Do another lap and rewind cheese again, rinse/repeat until it becomes 2nd nature.

When I take turns like this, I try to not pay attention to the walls at all, there is a racing line and the car fits through that, so just focus on your entry and exit points and if you do that properly, the walls won't matter.
However, in a similar topic, my friend and I raced a bunch of co-op seasons in a row and never once finished Monaco. We would always crash out and never make it more than a few laps at most. So we decided to do a 23 race season, of nothing but Monaco. Now we can both race Monaco full races with no issue. So in conclusion, just keep practicing.

Stop worrying about the walls around it and it eventually becomes almost second nature.

This is a momentum killing turn. xD. You can have decent pace through almost all other areas in Baku, but this turn, damn.

Brake as early as possible and steer with light input. And then you can try it later and later until you fail

u/Kyantjuh1 2d ago
The fact that he stopped on track in the middle of a one-shot quali makes it even better
1
u/bradlap 2d ago
The exit on the previous corner is critical. If you hit the apex on the previous corner and come back to the other side of the track, you'll be much better prepared to take this corner. If you're off the line by so much as a few millimeters, you'll crash or make a mistake trying to avoid the wall.

u/i_love_Crash_Bandi 2d ago
Brake early, coast trough and break later and later every lap until you find your limit

Take it slow and get the turn fit down. Do it over and over using instant replay. Ramp up your speed as you do it. Try down shifting twice, then once, etc. your setups natural rotation may need tweaking as well if the car just won't turn. Understeer is death in that corner

If you look at the walls you’re gonna hit the walls. Keep your eyes on not the walls
1
u/n1ghtdr1ve 1d ago
Keep your eyes on the right boarding before you steer in. And immediately after you steer in keep your eyes on the wall of the castle tower on the left hand side. Don't be 'afraid' of the walls and steer too much away from them. Then try to go right through the middle. And also: practice, again and again.

u/Particular_Dig1115 1d ago
Don’t turn in too early or too late and if you’re not confident brake earlier and just don’t accelerate through it. You’ll get it with practice
1
u/ChiXAsks 1d ago
Actual advice. You have to ignore the games racing line bit and brake a bit earlier and turn slightly (make the decision on if you gonna make the corner, if you will, turn hard and if not straighten and then turn hard (All this happens in less than a second). By the point of where you are at right now, you need to have had the steering wheel straight and facing the Pirelli boards on the wall. You are turning in way to late.

Am I the only one that finds this turn easy? Its so easy I'm buffled how people crash here.
I drive in Cockpit view probably helps, this turn is easy since there's so much space there, the road is wider than what is seen on screen. The turn before this is whats difficult for me, the straight then sharp right turn, Tricks me most times

u/Less-Buy654 1d ago
It's a tough corner just gonna wanna learn to hug it. I find the best speed for me is going into it low 3rd downshifting to 2nd when you're in the corner then tiny press on the gas to coast into the next corner in second and keep coasting into the third corner if enough speed then full on when exiting the third turn.

u/sem56 1d ago
timing
which comes from practice, there's just a particular sign or something on the right side of the track that has just become muscle memory for me at this point on when i turn in left and i sail through each time
the actual pain point of this section is the corner after this one IMO, it looks like it should be a corner you should round off a fair amount but you actually have to take it quite sharply and close to the wall so the third corner is easier to hit

u/drapedawg 1d ago
I try to get medium to low in 2nd gear and make sure to dive in and accelerate up the hill after. (This was for my f2 career so may be a different gear for f1 car)

Like any other turn in the game. Practicing! Do it until you perfect it. Then you'll do it again until you build a muscle memory. It may take thousands of attempts. But eventually you'll make it.

Drop to 3rd and then left, keeping closer to apex wall, I think as far as I can remember. It's been a while

Use the brakes keep your eye in the apex and not on the wall otherwise you'll second guess yourself and call yourself stupid

Brake at the fifty and cut as much curb on the left as possible. And then try to rotate it early to just miss the wall on the right. When you go over the hill go as far left as possible to open up the right after that. That is how i do it in the sim don’t play the F1 games too much but how I do it in the sim and should be the same fundamentals as the F1 games.

Practice practise i used to really struggle on this part of the track i learnt to try and coast abit you have too. Little taps on the power whilst slowing and coasting hope helps 👍

It’s very similar to turns 4,5&6 at Jeddah just in a tighter set of turns.. That section of Baku is technically 5 turns but I race it as 3 turns, 8,11&12. I turn into 8 pretty early and really close to the inside wall and stay as straight as possible heading into 11, with turn 11 you take it as a normal right hander but you exit late to hit a quick apex at turn 12. Idk how much this helps but it’s what I do and I’m usually pretty decent through this set of turns.

If you're using the racing line as a brake reference. Brake just before the line turns red

u/ScaredReindeer530 22h ago edited 22h ago
You should just toll through it until you are up the hill and turning right. The turns are normal after that.

What I do is when I'm about 2 car lengths from the corner, I let off the accelerator and wait a tick then gently pump the brakes 2 or 3 times like barely hit the brakes and turn in then tap the accelerator til I'm up the hill

u/Specialist_Ferret150 20h ago
I just close my eyes an say a gentle prayer. This corner an i think miami too can cause some serious pileups
1
u/CommonBug6888 17h ago
Wherever you think you’re supposed to turn in, turn in a quarter of a second earlier. Usually does the trick for me, but I have an understeery setup for Baku. It’s also just muscle memory after practicing so much, you just get used to it.

u/FitBend2202 11h ago
Slow down more and don't steer in too early. If i've learned anything about Baku, it's that you simply cannot be too careful in this corner.

u/Brandonuknow 10h ago
"I am stupid" lol best comm ever 🤣 personally I love that corner..I make up time through the castle section..it's one of those sections where you nail it it feels so satisfying....like all of Monaco I love it

Very sexy corner! Need to be aggressive with it but time it right! As you pass the left hander and already turning left, tank the accelerator but be ready for the gorgeous little right turn.
Remember.
Slow in, fast out.
You sexy little fucker! X
