They've just won an election and took all branches. They should be thrilled and more united than ever. Yet, they're the ones infighting and still finding things to be outraged about.

Because they believe in hierarchy. And when you believe in hierarchy, there's always even more to gain by making it to the very top. And the crabs will fight in the bucket.

They've made it to the top section of the pyramid but that's just step one. They're still a group that hates sharing power, so now they collapse in on each other. The endless greed only stops when they become the closest thing a human can be to god.

Actually, no it doesn't, at that point they try to take over the world through conquest and fail miserably, probably dying in a bunker somewhere or hanged on the side of a road.
