I imagine Trump is going to side with the tech bros on increased immigration for STEM employees especially when they show him his gigantic gains in Indian American precincts in New Jersey and New York

I could be wrong but I have a feeling this might be the MAGA version of online far lefty takes that nobody actually cares all that much about off of twitter. Legal high skilled immigration is generally popular. I believe the last polling I saw showed it had >70% approval rating even among Trump voters.

most of them arent in any STEM fields or anything and support everything he does, they’d forget about this in days. Although he’s been suspiciously quiet about it so maybe he’s still feeling out how he wants to respond.

The phrasing Elon used was awful. Suggesting you want to import the labor to work at a fraction of the cost of an American worker is literally the complaint unions had about immigrant workers.

Trump term 1 saw a massive cut in H1Bs. You are correct that Tech bros are influencing Trump now so it could be different.

Trump doesn't care about his voters, especially now that he's been termed out

He's not depending on voters to elect him again. The people he wants respect from are all wealthy. This isn't a hard decision.

The anti-immigration masses will support Trump no matter what he does anyway.
