Trump, who I do not support How will the Harris campaign react to this declaration from a bunch of interns?

Not just a comment from The Nation, already a very niche publication of the extreme left, but of the INTERNS of that magazine? Oh my, what a shocker.
In a feat of courage, they haven't bother to sign their tiny non-editorial. However, The Nation helpfully provides a masthead, so before the put on their figurative Hamas masks, here they are:
Interns: Thomas Birmingham, Xenia Gonikberg, Kelly X. Hui, Samaa Khullar, Grayson Scott · Claudia Curbelo (Design), Evan Robins (Business)
Birmingham and Hui are SJP activists. Samaa Khullar claims she is a "fact checker and reporter for The Nation", when, in fact, she's an intern who likes you use the term "glory to our Martyr" on her Twitter account. All of them seem to spend a LOT of time deliberately blurring the line between reporting and activist activity.

Watch the MSM give this more attention than the Trump/Hitler stuff
22
u/RunningNumbers Oct 25 '24
Or the Trump sexual assault stuff.
Or the Trump calling for violence stuff.
Or the Trump crime stuff.
Or the TikTok buyout of Trump stuff.
Or the Trump subservience to Putin stuff.

Something tells me these people are about to get a rude awakening about how the world actually works within the next couple of years.

Leftists: why should Israel play such an outsized role in American politics?
Also leftists: America's policy on Israel is literally the only thing I care about.
22
u/RandoUser35 Oct 25 '24
Shutting your brains off on other issues like trans rights, healthcare, housing, and public transportation, issues you supposedly care about because of one war in the Middle East is like a sign of mental illness, with all due respect to those who have suffered from conditions like that. Like at that point, you must have other personal issues going on in your life, and politics online has become a vent, a form of escapism.

At the end of the day bro it’s really just a prime example of white privilege 🤷🏾♂️. Those people, who claim to be progressive, don’t care about anything you just named because it doesn’t and has never applied to them. Because of this they quite literally gain FOMO from never experiencing any oppression in their lives so they latch onto any concurrent "movement" at that time to feel oppressed when they aren’t

Well one of them has a very Chinese surname so there's probably some nuance here, but they probably all live in a large blue city where they don't think they'll feel the consequences of fucking up this election.
7
u/Emergency_Lemon1834 Oct 26 '24
Yep. Leftists in blue cities are usually fine and protected by their state, but I live in a very red state and we have little to no protections for things like LGBT rights, access to abortion, and even our own education system (which is awful, but i’m sure that’s a well known fact already.)

If Trump has was at least advocating against the war, I could at least see where they're coming from, even though I would strongly disagree with it. But Trump is so much worse on it. Biden and Kamala are at least advocating for peace. Trump would encourage Israel to go even further.

It infuriates me that “genocide” is just tacitly accepted and repeated as fact
24
u/dblshot99 Oct 25 '24
Exactly! It's not a genocide. It's a war. It's a relatively small war where the side who started the war is losing badly and intentionally places their civilians in danger. If Israel intended genocide against the Arabs in Gaza, they could have done it by now.

u/Sowf_Paw Oct 25 '24
They speak of the magazines "abolitionist legacy." I wonder if these interns, had they been alive during the lead up to the Civil War with their current attitude, would support neither side because "there are slaves in Union states too."
"We do not support the Confederacy but to champion the Union at this moment is to ignore the slaves in states like Missouri and Maryland."
28
u/AsianMysteryPoints Oct 25 '24
They probably think the humanitarian crisis in Gaza is equal to the US legacy of slavery. Online leftists have already started throwing around the word "holocaust" to describe a casualty rate that has dropped by 75% this year, so why not?
21
u/BoysenberryLanky6112 Oct 25 '24
The actual Holocaust caused a decrease in the global Jewish population by 40%. The current war has seen more Palestinian births than deaths.

u/AsianMysteryPoints Oct 25 '24
Literally saw a post yesterday in response go the Trump/Hitler news that read, "Zionists love Hitler so much they emulate him."
12
u/bigfishwende Oct 25 '24
They think what is going on in Palestine is an extension of the Civil Rights Movement. It’s not.
38
u/absolutebeginnerz Oct 25 '24
They’d certainly have opposed Lincoln’s election, then taken credit for abolition
7
u/Mr_Conductor_USA transgender operations on illegal aliens in prison Oct 25 '24
They're the sort to reject every path forward except for violent insurrection, then not join John Brown's violent insurrection.

Yet they act liis they have the high moral ground all while letting a real dictator come in. These people are useless
18
u/BensenMum Oct 25 '24
The Holy Land crisis should NOT be the sole factor for voting
Sorry. It’s selfish and stupid. There are bigger things to be concerned about and other global atrocities going on
(With respect to folks who’re Israeli and Palestinian)

u/JDDJS Oct 26 '24
Even it is, neither candidate is going to completely stop supporting Israel. However, one candidate has made it that they'll support deescalating the conflict and at least try to limit the damage that the war causes. The other candidate is all for letting the conflict get bigger and worse and has no concern about any collateral damage.

And before OCT 7th they would endorse her because "she was a cop". So tired of these children having temper tantrums over the flavor of the month on Tik Tok and streamers

Owning the LIBS by letting Benjamin Netanyahu's favorite candidate win. God, are these people just as stupid as anti-vaxxer conservatives from COVID? There were even a bunch of Arab, Muslim leaders all coming together to say that Trump winning would be the worst outcome for the Palestinian people, to their credit.
8
u/Emergency_Lemon1834 Oct 26 '24
This election season has shown that they really never cared about the people of Palestine, they just wanted to “stick it to the libs”
“I’m not like other people on the left, I actually HATE the libs, and also the Democrats are SO corrupt, but I also don’t like Trump, but I’d still basically vote for him to make myself feel like I have some sort of moral high ground!”
