For all its faults the US Democratic Party is a very good political party, all things considered.

Yes they are.
Biden and the Dems have largely done what they've said, or at least tried to do the right thing. I would have been curious to see what Obama could have done without a hostile tea party congress for 6 years.

I saw the first two years of the Obama administration up close and it was actually pretty inspiring.
I'm still jarred by the difference between seeing what they did and then seeing the dismissive, lazy reactions of some voters and the unhinged descent into madness of others.

People back then (and for some reason still now) were shocked Obama didn’t snap his fingers and undo the recession. We lost a lot of hope and optimism and I think we wouldn’t be where we are now if people hadn’t become so lazy and cynical so quickly.

Following up 2014 very low turnout with Kasich and boring Todd Young types would have been smart for the GOP. Even with a publicly quieter GOP POTUS in 2018 it wouldn't be like the real 2018. Judiciary would have even more Alito acolytes.
I drove a shuttle in 08 and it wasn't 1 mile to the polls, there was a hill but people talked about how they would not have voted due to time and distance! Sad.

I think people forget quite how conservative the Democratic Party was when we had to give the Blue Dog Dems their due for helping Obama win in his landslide 2012. That was a different party, for sure. We've come A REALLY LONG WAY since then, even if there's some decent core members of the party who persisted from then. It's a great party now. And they aren't hiding their goals: helping people.

Quite possibly the best in the world, when you consider its platform and its ability to win elections despite the horrible fundamentals it faces (electoral college+senate = massive rural and conservative skew).

What did he expect the Democrats to do? Abstain? Vote "Present"?
46
u/Currymvp2 Apr 20 '24
TBH, I can see how someone can be slightly surprised that every Dem voted for it...I wouldn't have been shocked if Bush or Tlaib voted for "Present" (but to their credit, they did the right thing here; that's weird to type).
Meanwhile over half of the Republicans in the House shamefully voted "no".

u/RandomCarGuy26 Establishment Liberal (Centre-Left) Apr 20 '24
I'm more pleasantly surprised that there were a lot more Republicans willing to cross their party line and vote Yes

u/FridayOfTheDead Apr 20 '24
vote present
It's not a symbolic vote to denounce Hamas sexual assault
22
u/RandomCarGuy26 Establishment Liberal (Centre-Left) Apr 20 '24
But have you considered that Hamas will lead the way towards the liberation of Palestinians and the oppressed worldwide? /s

He’s a bad faith actor. Of course he expected the Dems to vote for it. He gets paid to be outraged about it.

Russian propagandist says what?
He’s a dumbass, Glenn twisting himself into a pretzel to defend Tracey’s dumb shit is always hilarious.

Once he one of the people who were saying that Russia was never going to attack Ukraine and Joe Biden was lying.
Even posted pictures that zero actual context.

u/PiusTheCatRick Apr 20 '24
after 2+ years of pointless carnage
Bet he wouldn’t have the balls to tell that to a Ukrainian
15
u/ThePoliticalFurry Apr 20 '24
It's just blatantly transparent at this point he's a Russian asset because he can't open his mouth about the invasion without directly quoting Kremlin talking points

If Michael Tracey is upset with Democrats, then Democrats definitely did the right thing.
Good job, Democrats.
