I was just reading this afternoon a book where the author was passing near the Matterhorn while skiing through the Alps. He said that he and his group couldn’t stop looking up to it as they were getting farther, just like cows that can’t stop looking at the barn as they walk to the fields. He said also that observing it and everything around, it’s hard to understand how the mountain came to be from a geological standpoint, and that it mostly looked like it was just placed there from above.
