Light Novel If tiona was the one Who saved bell would she love her like ais?
I mean ais isnt anyone , but lets say Bell was saved by a different girl, lets say Tiona cuz i dont have another exemple. Would he love here or would he still randomly love ais for her beauty Cuz anime dont really explain his feeling except for the kid logic of "shes strong i want to be like her" so idk if ln does it better, but as of rn its more of he see her as an idol, the fact shes beautifaul make him think he loves her , but he just doesnt feel like he has currently the rigth to be by her side.
I stil saw in s5 that aiz seem stress to see bell with another girl and i kinda saw those sword oratoria anime, manga and illustrationthat show that she has interest in him. But its frustrating ive been waiting since 4 or 5 years to see them together, man im i first watch danmachi s1 way before high school and now im in college they still dont express their feelings☠️🙏

if Tiona is his type then there is no reason why he wouldn't fall in love, although honestly i don't know. we have a guarantee that he would fall in love with Ryuu in of this situation, especially considering that he has a fetish for elves. Ais was just lucky to be in the right place at the right time.
27
u/HestiaYokaiHomie Oct 15 '24
Damn i forgot about the elf fetish from ln 1 lmao, yeah its pretty much "destiny"
8
u/leingold Oct 15 '24
Im only watch the anime, And then read ln volume 8
Can you explain this?
21
u/HestiaYokaiHomie Oct 15 '24
So in ln1, before like the first scene of ais saving bell, bell is thinking of what girl could he save in the dungeon and say he have a type for elf
25
u/leingold Oct 15 '24
so He really does have fetish for elf girls lol.

u/Dull-Cry-3300 Oct 15 '24
They're the most beautiful race of people all shades. The thing is it's his preference not fetish. Otherwise he would be trying to date them on the side or spy on them which I guess he did with Ryuu. So maybe it's just his first experience with taboo bodies he never would have gotten to see. Where Amazon's make it too easy.

Having Bell fall in love at first sight with Aiz is one of the weakest part of the writing of the entire franchise. As it settles that Bell is in love with her, there is no need for the author to develop his feelings further. That wouldn't have been a problem in a shorter story without any other character falling in love with Bell.
On the other hand, I find the romance part from Aiz's side interesting. Aiz's character is really close to sleeping beauty fairy tale. She was a pure and inocent child until her trauma happened. Just like Sleeping Beauty was aslept, Aiz was trapped inside the dungeon. But no Hero in shining armor ever came to rescue her. That's why she had to become the Sword Princess. It is really clear that the author has written Bell to be this knight in shining armor and who will kill the evil dragon and free her of her trauma.
Yes, it requires you to read Sword Oratoria, wich is also a bad decision from the author, but I find it interesting.
Concerning Tiona, I'd say that she's the one seeing Bell as an idol, as he is the closest person to be an actual Hero she's ever seen.

For me, him falling for Aiz and then building his character development around that encounter - wanting to improve in order to confess his love - is what drew me to the story. I agree with the rest you are saying.
I also dont think turning it into a harem story was the author's original plan, but you can feel a noticeable shift in the development of Aiz and Bell's relationship after their dance. I feel like the harem aspect was to make up for seeing less of Aiz, same way I feel Lefiya was added in SO to make up for seeing less of Bell.

u/HestiaYokaiHomie Oct 15 '24
True ,its like life make everything to make them not see each other

u/kilo28206 Oct 15 '24
The same shit happened in Wistoria. Difficulties and cockblockers keep coming one after one to separate the main couple.

I think that love at first sight is a crucial factor for Bell's determination to become stronger. So, in every aspect I wouldn't call it weak.

u/Niviik Hestia Familia Oct 15 '24
I understand that the encounter has to be meaningful enough to explain the acquisition of Liaris Freese. However, the biggest complain about Aiz x Bell ship is how little they interact and how little Bell actually knows about Aiz. It's so little that it is pretty common to have questions on this sub asking if they are really in love or why Bell is actually in love.
The poor adaptation of Aiz in the anime also plays a role in this. But we are in a situation where many fans feel that other girls are more interesting than Aiz.
5
u/dalzmc Oct 16 '24
Counterpoint - why do they have to be in love already? I feel like it would be much shittier writing, more akin to "seasonal trash fantasy anime", if there was already a strong romance between them.
No name weakling from a no name familia randomly encounters the princess of the city, a literal idol from the top adventuring familia, and.. they're in love a handful of months later? While Aiz is busy leading expeditions onto floors Bell has never even considered going anywhere near? IMO, she should absolutely still be the unreachable golden idol that he can't stand by the side of. It wouldn't really make any sense for her to have her arc with him yet. Her caring for him as strongly as she already does is already wonderful and enough for me.
There's so much to Orario and the Danmachi universe, but this main story is just a snapshot of a moment, a blink of an eye, in the endless tale of the gods; and it is Bell's story. He has had so much growing to do, and the story has been about that. The story isn't about the black dragon yet, it's not about Aiz yet, we're still on the beginning parts about Bell. This HAS to develop first. Their paths have crossed, but their stories not so much yet. They will, but I don't know why it has to be rushed just to refute people's ships. Bell and Aiz having heavy romantic development before Freya's arc would have been absolutely shit writing. Bell had to learn soo much from that first, about himself, and about others.

This is one of the best comments I have ever seen on this sub. Very well said. The whole theme of reaching out to try to grasp what's unobtainable is one of the primary reasons I picked up the series in the first place.
3
u/dalzmc Oct 16 '24
Thanks lol I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about her and the series and always find myself unable to hold back from commenting on this topic. If you’ve read/watched Wistoria, what Omori does with Elfie manages to be more obviously appealing to most people while still having her be that idol almost out of reach for the mc (tho I always point out they were childhood friends which makes things easier). But I don’t think that has to be a slight against how he has written Aiz or her involvment thus far, both are good to me, it’s just a different way of doing it. It might not be flawless, but I find it beautiful.
While I’ve read all the various light novels for a long time now, I recently read the SO manga after seeing some panels shared here; I recommend checking it out if you haven’t, even if you’ve read the light novels too - Ais is so funny and the facial expressions are amazing, it’s a darn shame that so many people think she’s an emotionless robot. Tho there’s some irony in that being how most of the public in Orario sees her as well. Memoria freese cutscenes also did a fair bit for her character for me too. Ais supremacy!!
https://www.reddit.com/r/DanMachi/comments/1fvz97k/cant_wait_to_see_my_queen_ais_again_it_has_been/lqcrqlk/ I said similar things here but you might like what I had to say about her as a heroine and how much she shows up, careful spoilers tho if you aren’t caught up on the novels

u/AmarilloCaballero Oct 16 '24
I think the majority of my comments on this sub are trying to get people to read SO manga. I've been reading it since 2015, so way ahead of you aha.

Sure Tiona was soft, by contrast of the giant golem she just cut in two with a single swing of her dual blades.
1
u/Fabulous-Light-8326 Oct 16 '24
Yes,she is soft because she read stories about heroes like Bell when she was with Kali.Unlike Tione.

Aiz's deal is something more like a "fated date" (just as the original title of the novel suggests, unlike the English title where they distorted the meaning of "date" to "pick up girls"), so in this fate thing it would be It was impossible for another girl other than Aiz to be there at the moment, and even if it wasn't Aiz it would hardly make him fall in love at first sight.
Aiz carries a majestic and sparkling aura around her, something that, along with her display of strength, enchanted Bell. The only other girl I can imagine replicating the same effect would be Ryuu.

I'd probably like Danmachi more is Tiona was the main girl instead of Ais, but unfortunately she's too friendly for the plot to work. Ais is the better fit for the story because she's always cool, aloof, and distant. I don't like it as much, but Omori kind of wrote himself into a corner with the way Liaris Freeze works. The main love interest must be the most distant and least interesting one, otherwise she steals the plot from Bell because she also needs to be stronger than him until the very end. And she also needs to win the romance part, because Liaris Freeze.
Then he rubs salt in the wound by adding so many better girls and making them unable to compete because Liaris Freeze is tied to Ais, and the Black Dragon makes every other pairing doom everyone to death.
5
u/Nexielas Oct 15 '24
Is there a reason why Liaris Freese wouldn't work with someone other than Ais? I think that as long as he falls in love with someone significantly stronger he would develop that skill. Heck it would probably be even stronger with Tiona since her friendliness would lead to Bell falling deeper and hence enchancing the skill more.
Also why does she need to be stronger until the very end? Don't remember anything about that. He could very well pass her and aim even higher to be her hero.
8
u/AmarilloCaballero Oct 15 '24
The ultimate goal of the series is catching up with her, kind of like how the ultimate goal of Naruto was becoming Hokage. She doesn't need to be stronger than him in theory, but that's how the story is likely to go.
3
u/Nexielas Oct 15 '24
Goals can change tho (like the literal first page of the book where his goal was to create a harem and then switching to Ais) ... But nevermind that. The current "ultimate goal" of bell is to start dating Ais. That goal doesn't change once he gets to her power since from what I understood she wouldn't return his feelings until the black dragon is gone. Meaning his goal is beating the toughest there is and there is therefore no reason to stop wanting to get stronger if he passes Ais.
3
u/AmarilloCaballero Oct 15 '24
You are correct, what I am saying is the series is probably going to end once he's caught up to her. The author has stated the series is already in it's final chapter. It probably won't go past 25 or 26 volumes.
3
u/HestiaYokaiHomie Oct 15 '24
Youre rigth he could and i think will surpass her someday, but i think it work with her better cuz shes pretty much the second fastest level up , so it makes a parallel between the two
6
u/confusing_pancakes Oct 15 '24
Liraris Freese doesn't make sense, my interpretation is that it's a misguided drive towards something, Ais in theory shouldn't be necessary for it, but after the Ryuu IF...
8
u/Nexielas Oct 15 '24
Yeah. My book had this definition of it: "Continued desire results in continued growth. Stronger desire results in stronger growth"
Meaning it isn't even about love and something like wanting to beat black minotaur or winning war game also works. Basically if the desire is there it should work and love is one big desire so it works, but isn't rly necessary.
As far as I'm concerned it would still work with someone else. There is nothing to say that it would stop working if he caught up to Ais since he could just have a desire to be strong for her instead of catching up to her. Unless the author states that bell wouldn't acquire it without Ais i say he could develop it without her.
3
u/Commander413 Miach Familia Oct 15 '24
Look at it from a meta perspective: Bell's goal is to reach his muse's strength, so he has Liaris Freeze to speed up the process. If his muse is someone like Tiona, he doesn't have much room to develop by himself, because she'd be much closer to him. This also makes room for drama, like in season 3 when Ais opposes him and the Xenos, and shows the most personality she has so far (outside Sword Oratoria). He also needs to be weaker than her until the end because that's the goal of the story: reach her level. When he does, his goal ends.
Omori mentioned that he wants the whole story to take place within a year, so with the Black Dragon coming up, there's not much room for Bell to go past his muse in strength, especially since Liaris Freeze would probably turn off when he surpasses her.
3
u/Nexielas Oct 15 '24
I don't remember anything in books saying that he will lose the skill if he passes her. As such it is up to the author to either take it from him or let him keep it, so this shouldn't be an issue. The problem lies in the time limit and how long it takes everyone else to level. Everybody in the story apart from Bell. Ais leveled at the start of the story iirc so it is unlikely to lvl up anytime soon and in that case it wouldn't make such a difference between her and Tiona that the story wouldn't work.
As far as drama goes I can see Bell being jealous about Tiona since she is friendly with everyone. I agree that the story is Ais centric but the author could just make some changes to make it work around a different center.

There is a line of text in MS 4 that says his vow would be broken if Ais coddled him too much, in simple terms the more the girl Bell target is willing to accept his current self the more Bell is tempted to break his vows & stop running, something difficult but not completly unachievable. Compared to Ais, Tiona is much more open & doesn't seem to care about her partner's strength, ironically the more open Tiona is the more LF would be in danger.
Breaking his vow would make him stop being Bell Cranel as we know to the point it will change his soul color & due to LF's incredible fragility without the support that Bell's pure soul was to hold it together, it would break for good.

Yes, Liaris Freese would've been based on her... just like it would lock on Ryuu if Bell arrived 7 years earlier
3
u/crimsonfiest Oct 15 '24
My guess it wouldn't have mattered even if it was Bete
2
u/HestiaYokaiHomie Oct 15 '24
So you mean only ais could be his live interest? In like a "hero fate" type of way so, the two are the only one Who can defeat oebd and so they are destined to be together
2
u/crimsonfiest Oct 15 '24
Nope quite the opposite it wouldn't have mattered who saved him his feelings would remain the same

Orna wins. That's a win in my book.

Something I noticed. Bell doesn't have a snarky woman interested in him.

u/HestiaYokaiHomie Oct 15 '24
I mean like aisha want a lot more then a piece of him, idk if its considerated as love or lust tho🤣🙏

u/the_joy_of_hex Oct 15 '24
From a story perspective, it doesn't really work to have your hero's ambition be surpassing the 7th strongest adventurer or wherever Tiona ranks.
From an in-universe perspective, it is difficult to answer without knowing what Bell's feelings for Aiz were before he encountered her. From my reading he isn't in love with Aiz purely because she saved him that one time, so you couldn't just slot another character in the role of saviour and get an equivalent result.
2
1
u/Zekrom997 Bell Oct 15 '24
Bell knows nothing about Ais before she saved her, that's why He is asking Eina after that
2
u/the_joy_of_hex Oct 15 '24
Yeah I don't have the book to hand so I couldn't check but I wasn't sure if he'd heard of her at all. She is pretty famous after all. Did he really ask Eina "some blonde chick just saved my life, any idea who that could be?"
0
u/AmarilloCaballero Oct 15 '24
He knew who she was and already had a crush based on appearance and strength. He asked Eina who she is as a person.

Probably 🙄
2

Tiona probably ban him already

Lmfao you will be pissed in the ais arc soon
1
u/confusing_pancakes Oct 15 '24
The ais arc is too little too late at this point tough
3
u/HestiaYokaiHomie Oct 15 '24
I mean next ln have a chapter with either ais or ryuu name, and next one(21) will be so and ms "collab" so the story will be in the same time, and they will go to the dungeon, what better time is it for ais arc then in the dungeon where they could find another demi spirit boss Who reveal ais identity and ,with the teasing of oebd to the story they could really make it happen real soon
1
u/confusing_pancakes Oct 15 '24
The problem is that Ais is set up like princess peach in mario, Bell will have no time to develop a romantic relationship with her if that's the case. She is meant as a simple trophy.
2
u/HestiaYokaiHomie Oct 15 '24
Youre saddly saddly rigth, i think he wilk most likely get stronger then her and save her from like the worst situation oebd destroy everyone ,all adventurers are like yamcha and then when the oebd try to kill ais specifically he saves her, boom love is confessed, kiss the two get up jeat the shit out of the dragon and then they finish together with a weeding scene where zeus come back lmao
2
u/diuni613 Oct 15 '24
Yes, bell would have fallen in love pretty much with any heroic figure who save him first. If you are blonde, elf like with long hair then it's a Gurantee love a first sight.
1
u/blooddragon666 Oct 15 '24
More then likely yeah. Honestly it wasn't a simple love at first sight it was someone enthralled by beauty and power. Most love that goes around around bell has more to do with a hero love that grows from respect to a more romantic feeling. It makes sense for people story wise to fall in love with a hero that saves them from death.
1
u/DarthChettheFirst Oct 15 '24
They would so connect with fairy tales. I just do not know if Tiona could look past her initial Amazon requisites

Any woman who saves Bell in the dungeon will fall in love with him because he's cute little rabbit
you can replace Ai with Tiona, Ryu (assuming Astarea family still intact), Aisha and they would love him regardless. the only question if Bell would admire his savior like he did with Ais
1
u/Lionheart_723 Oct 16 '24
Yes I think he would have. And in my opinion Tiona is the best or at the very least second best girl in the entire series. Her and Ryuu are the top picks Eina would be third. To me Ais is a boring character she is a lil better in the SO books but overall I do not find her to be interesting I think she is one of the worst characters in the entire series

Yeah, from the start, bells love for Ais is pretty shallow.
"Pretty girl save me, I now have greatest love of all the ages!"

Tiona ALREADY cares more about Bell than Ais

And you should read Sword Oratoria vol. 11 if you complain about Ais in MS vol. 18
She made a contract with Freya to had Ottar train with her before a big battle that involve life and death of her familia, and in exchange Freya can order her to do something ONCE as long as it's a reasonable request, now guess what the goddess of beauty used that 1 time order for in vol. 18
Ais just kept her word like every good human being should do.

u/Clear-Priority-6530 Oct 15 '24
Yes I would make an exception for Tiona.
