Question Do you think Jon will interview Kamala before the election?

Someone from the audience asked Jon if that was who the special guest was when Pete came on. I could see him interviewing her after the election (maybe on the podcast? idk how long after the election hes around for on TDS) so idk, does anyone think he'll interview her before it? Would love for the entire episode to just be the interview tbh, I wanna hear what he asks and what her responses are

Question How do I watch The Daily Show in Canada?

Post image
275 Upvotes

Hey, so how can I as a Canadian resident watch, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart? Comedy Central isn't a thing here and it's blocked on Canadian websites. It was only on Paramount+ for like 5 seconds, but not anymore! It sure as hell isn't on CTV Comedy. So where can I watch it?

Yeah a quick search says this was asked here over three months ago, but nope. Still not available here as far as I can tell. A quick google suggests AppleTV+, but nope, not really, when I tried to check AppleTV+.

I've also asked this on Twitter. Hoping if I ask enough social networks, someone will either give me an answer, or other people might point it out to the networks. Because really, it sucks not being able to watch.

Question Why were only some of Jon’s F-Bombs censored during live show?

I watched the debate live show cable broadcast (9/10/2024) and was amazed Jon’s F-bombs about Dick Cheney were let through the broadcast, but when Jon started to espouse on Trump’s answer to the Jan 6th question, they censored him quite a bit of it. What happened? Was someone asleep during the first part of the show?

Kosta is really funny. He reminds me a little bit of Stephen Corbert with the range of facial expression. What’s the opinion of him?

When he made the joke about the last time Trump had this many white people in the palm of his hands he was trying to impress Jeffrey Epstein. What did that mean?

So the the opposite.

I want to see if the right wing can find dumber ppl than Magas/Qanons.

Question Why no correspondents in the field anymore?

Is anyone else bummed they never send correspondents out to the field anymore? Will no one take interviews with them anymore? Did Covid kill it? Not sure when it stopped but I really miss it. Jordan Klepper's trips to MAGA country are the only ones that come to mind in recent memory. It ends up making the show so much shorter because I pretty much always skip the correspondent sitting in front of a green screen doing a SNL skit. It's almost always the same tired formula "Person X said this dumb thing" "Look I'm taking the dumb thing very literally nyuk nyuk nyuk".

Question Chicago DNC show

Hi all! I have a ticket for tonight's taping! My ticket says General. I'm wondering if there are tickets that say Priority?

My ticket says General check-in starts at 7pm and ends at 9pm.

Anyone have tips about how early I should arrive?

Question Why aren't some episodes of the Daily Show being recorded?

Suddenly the episodes with Jon Stewart aren't recording on my Dish Network DVR. And I didn't get tonight's either, the first one covering the Democratic Convention. The regular episodes still record.

We literally decided to keep Dish only through the election, just so we could watch Jon Stewart. So this is royally pissing me off.

Question Was the Ta-Nahisi Coates interview with Jon Stewart removed from Paramount+?

I was looking forward to this but when I went to watch the Sept 30th TDS episode via the Paramount+ app on my TV, the interview section was replaced by Michael Kosta discussing Vance and Walz. The weird thing is that full episode is viewable on the app on my phone. It’s a shame it looks like someone decided to censor this interview and essentially silence Coates on specific media channels, especially given Stewart, who is Jewish, has said to have given a respectful interview.

Paramount and CBS execs are reported to be in dispute over the Dokoupil interview with Coates, with Paramount CEO Shari Redstone calling the CBS rebuke of Dokoupil a “mistake”.

Question Host for 1/20?

I requested tickets for the show on the 20th of January, and I know Jon usually hosts on Mondays, barring any big events; considering the 20th is the inauguration, I wasn’t sure whether Jon would be hosting that day, or possibly the Tuesday after? Or, maybe hosting in DC? I’m a long time fan who used to watch TDS religiously during Jon’s first run, but I’ve read that the way the show is run has changed greatly since then, and I can’t remember for the life of me if they ever hosted on location during past inaugurations. If I lived closer I truly wouldn’t care who the host is, but I would be making this trip (and camping out in the cold for a few hours), just for Jon, so if he probably won’t be there, I’ll try for tickets for another Monday some time in the future. I know this is a long shot, and that it’s likely no one here knows anything more than I do, but I thought it couldn’t hurt to ask.

Question Is this show openly democrat?

Show lands soft blows on democrats and dedicates entire show to trashing republicans. I’m suprised John Stewart has not just blatantly said vote Kamala Harris. Always thought the show was neutral. It isn’t?

Question Archiving Project / Torrent 2.0

Hey folks! Some of you may know there's torrent of the (original) Stewart run kicking around out there. I'm not sure if it's even publicly listed, but it's been a huge resource over the years. And I'm wondering it if isn't time to update and expand it.

This is really less about piracy than archiving. After Paramount recently deleted or made unavailable a host of its content, there's often no way to find this stuff. Plus, there's a lot of TDS (and related) content to add: The Noah Era, The Nightly Show, The Opposition, and plenty of specials in that world. Plus, seflishly, I wouldn't say no to something work better with Plex's library system.

Anyway, anybody down to work on 2.0?

Question Why does the show sometimes have segments where two people are talking and not even looking at each other?

For example, the segment Jon Stewart recently did with Jessica Williams… Like they’ll have someone come on, instead of sitting down and looking at each other, or something, they both talk to each other and have a conversation while one stands behind Jon, and they both look at the camera… They’ve done this for a while and it always makes me curious what’s the point

Question Team Trump "Concept of a Plan" sketch?

This is driving me crazy. In the days following the Harris-Trump debate, I remember watching some comedy sketch of some male host interviewing a spoof "member" of team Trump who was explaining Trump's debate claim of having "concepts of a (health care) plan". The comedic aspect was that the latter spoke perpetual layers of meta, saying things similar to having the idea of thinking of preparing of proposing (and so on...) about the concepts of a plan. I want to say it was on Jon Stewart's portion, but I carefully scrubbed through all recent The Daily Show episodes on Hulu and YouTube since the debate, and I could NOT find this sketch. It is also possible that it was on some Late Night show like Kimmel, Seth Meyers, Colbert, or Fallon, but I scrubbed through all their recent episodes too only to find nothing. Anyone remember seeing this sketch and can positively identify its origin? Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Another Redditor helped me find it! It was Jimmy Fallon's latest ep w/ Kathryn Hahn (S11 E176).

Question Paramount Plus question

Hey, I joined Paramount Plus just so I could watch John Stewart on TDS but the episodes aren’t current. It’s frustrating.

The most recent episode available to view is from last Thursday (2/15/24), which I’ve seen. Where is Friday’s episode and today’s episode? Does anyone have any information? Thanks.

Have tickets for Wednesday's show. Everything I was finding online said 35-40 minutes but wasn't sure if the same held true for DNC shows. Thanks!

Question Election night coverage

I heard that the Daily Show might be the only late night show hosting on election night. I was wondering if they might be able stream it live that evening or would the comedy central be the only place to watch it live?

edit: reason I ask is because I don't have cable.

Question Looking for older clips about Trump “calling it like it is”

Hi, I remember some clips of the e early Trump days 2015/2016 where they were interviewing people and one common phrase I heard what’s “Trump calls it like it is” and things along those lines. I’ve been looking over again and I can’t seem to find them I’ve seen various of the Kepler interviews and the Trevor pieces but I can’t find those. Idk if maybe someone remembers better when this was the trending words to describe Trump.

(Context: im trying to show how Elons charade is the exact same charade that Trump pulled that made him victorious, the whole drain the swamp stuff.)
