If you’re using your turn signal I see you

Wild that people are out here supporting turn signals. Whats next? Stopping for stop signs? The woke gay agenda has gone too far...

54

u/SteptimusHeap 16h ago

Can't blast through stop signs anymore. Because of woke

13

u/BeppermintBarry 9h ago

Can't do 60 in a school zone because of woke.

5

u/Himmelblaa 5h ago

Can't drive straight through a roundabout, because of woke

u/Waity5 6h ago

I still find it strange that stop signs are (seemingly) so common in the US, instead of just using give way markers

I merge now. Good luck everybody!

Real Americans cut in front of the person in front of them in the merge! Fuck what everyone else wants and get your own! Show your dominance by never yielding!

Counterpoint: Im the specialest highway princess and I can cut off anybody I want and go 80 over the speed limit.

u/Guy-McDo 18h ago

Now would be a good time to specify if you’re talking mph or kmh. Cause if I was on like the Turnpike, going 70mph and saw someone going 150, that’d look less “entitled” and more “Holy shit! Someone cut their brakes!”

57

u/DuhlKnight 18h ago

And ruin my charming mystique??

34

u/SquirrelAngell 17h ago

Bmw drivers be like "What is this vile, evil text? I cannot comprehend this foul language!"

29

u/Carry2sky 17h ago

You can even use it BEFORE you brake!

28

u/WrongColorCollar 17h ago

I'll use that shit in the pitch dark with zero traffic, 5:30 in the morning.

Hating driving makes you a pretty safe driver.

5

u/StormerBombshell 16h ago

I use it to make an habit out of using for the most part

31

u/Professional_Denizen 17h ago

I use my turn signal when I’m getting out of a roundabout, because when I’m a pedestrian I like to know when a car plans to do that.

17

u/ThrawnCaedusL 17h ago

I find it so weird that this is not normalized. Like, why is this an exception to using a turn signal? It is very useful information!

21

u/inkyrail 17h ago

It generally isn’t an exception, at least as far as the law goes. But the average driver can’t turn the steering wheel and do something else at the same time, so here we are

9

u/ThrawnCaedusL 16h ago

I just looked that up. Literally either one of my parents or my drivers ed teacher lied to me, and I just believed all my life that you were not supposed to use turn signals in roundabouts (I did anyways, because I’m that kind of rebel).

11

u/Sir_Nightingale 15h ago

Its not.mandatory for y'all? Crazy

6

u/Professional_Denizen 15h ago

I know, right? Most Americans only use the signal when they’re going right at a roundabout. (Aka out the first exit they’d pass).

2

u/Digital_Bogorm 6h ago

What? So if they're taking the second exit, people just... don't blink? But how are others supposed to know that it's safe to enter the roundabout?
Are you just supposed to stay until they physically start turning?

I am genuinely a bit confused. I know there's a bunch of jokes that Americans fear roundabouts because they don't know how to use them, but I didn't think it was this bad.

4

u/matto_blatto 15h ago

where i live i was told not to because it causes confusion, and tbh it does whenever i see people signal like that it's hard to tell what they're doing and what exit they're taking

2

u/Professional_Denizen 14h ago

Were it more standard, it’d feel less weird.

4

u/Hakar_Kerarmor Swine. Guillotine, now. 13h ago

Thank you for doing that, unlike the giant truck that would have barely felt my fragile little cyclist bones being ground to dust beneath her mighty wheels.

2

u/htmlcoderexe 6h ago

I feel so irritated when people don't do that. Especially when you're waiting through a stream of car that comes just densely enough that you can't slip between them into the roundabout and then someone takes the exit before yours but by the time they actually turn it's too late as the next car has caught up, while if they blinked you'd know you can get in now.

Hell even without it, just another car approaching from the left (right for you Brits and Aussies and whoever else drives on the left) and like. It's not blinking so you slow down and stop in case it goes through, and then it just goes off before you so you stopped for nothing. They wasted your time for nothing. It's like a small thing but it's so annoying that some people literally won't lift a finger if it doesn't directly benefit them.

19

u/Whatisanamehuh 19h ago

You're not going to trick me. Never let them know your next move.

10

u/ninjesh 18h ago

We've got reverse psychology, and then we've got this. Positive reinforcement?

BMW driver affirmations

9

u/Corandoe 15h ago

bold of you to assume bmw drivers can read

8

u/Aesteria13 15h ago

If you use your turn signal early in Boston the other drivers on the road will actively try to prevent you from merging or exiting

7

u/ProvocativeCacophony 13h ago

Turn signs are how you signal to other cars what you're doing. It's communication.

So no wonder most folks suck at using them.

5

u/IllConstruction3450 10h ago

Imagine if everyone said exactly what they wanted at all times?

6

u/Ndlburner 14h ago

In fact, if you don’t use a turn signal Im likely to lean on my horn and flip you off (I’m from Massachusetts so this is my way of showing mild displeasure)

5

u/scubagh0st 14h ago

in the car with my mom today and she didnt use her turn signal in a busy parking lot and i was like 😬

3

u/ThrawnCaedusL 17h ago

Is it ok to use my turn signal in my driveway (a friend teased me for it…)?

6

u/Hummerous https://tinyurl.com/4ccdpy76 17h ago

everyone tells me not to but it's on the road test and it's erring on the side of caution anyway

6

u/Corandoe 16h ago

often unnecessary, but it's a good habit to get into

3

u/Stretch5678 14h ago

Also, people who put on the turn signal halfway into your lane, while cutting in front of you, should be hunted for sport.

3

u/SaintJynr 7h ago

Whoa, two seconds before turning? We got a nostradamus here with that amount of foresight, they're not using the turn signal as they are turning

2

u/iced-latte 6h ago

sending this to my mothers facebook

2

u/sertroll 6h ago

I don't get it. Is using turn signals shunned in other countries? I'm in italy

1

u/pailko 11h ago

Using your turn signal is pretty sexy

1

u/Cyvexx 11h ago

I always use my turn signal in traffic but if I'm driving out super late and I'm tired and there's absolutely no traffic to speak of, I usually don't bother. If I see another car I'll start indicating again but I just don't see the point doing it while I'm the only one on the road

1

u/AlexDavid1605 8h ago

Whenever I drive, if I have to turn, I would use my turn signal a full three lamp-posts distance before the turn comes up. And since my turn signal also emits a loud ringing noise, it also makes sure that any driver behind me gets alerted to the situation.

1

u/Lord-Bobster 5h ago

You guys arent using your turn signals for these????!!?!!?

1

u/Zestyclose-Monk-266 5h ago

I use it as often as possible. Sometimes I’ll use it briefly to let the guy next to me know I want to get into his lane

1

u/SmarterThanStupid 1h ago

Don't get me wrong I use turn signals religiously, I love and appreciate them but I just moved to Florida and now I feel like I use them out of spite more so than out of proper driving practices. Its like people here see a turn signal as a "Pass as fucking fast as possible" signal. I've been nearly sideswiped here more than any other state I've ever driven in or through.

Using your turn signal is gay! You want me to put my hand on a protruding stick and handle it so I can ask permission from other people before I do what I want?
