this makes me want a really heavy blanket

If you don't have one, weighted blankets and heavy throws are very affordable due to their popularity these days - lots of choices in style/design/color, too!

Omg this space is EVERYTHING. Dark, cozy, warm. Such a fantastic use of a smaller footprint. I love the warm rug and the picture frame on the windowsill. This is such an elegant yet cozy room. Amazing job.

Thank you! I’m in Ontario - got it at Homesense about a year ago! They still have them in different colours :)

You got that from Homesense? I might just go there this weekend.

That rug looks like it's been passed down at least 3 generations (in a good way!).

Every year I tell people, if your house looks significantly better with Xmas lights, you need more lamps and less contractor grade overhead lighting. You can have cozy all year round if you just layer you lighting.
No shade, this looks great op.

So many people seem to think they need industrial-strength overhead lighting; otherwise, they feel their home looks dark and dingy.
I think it comes from them thinking office/supermarket/warehouse lighting is the norm or something.

True! This is such a nice reading nook. Where did you get your bookshelf?

Sorry! The world is going to shit. If people want to put up their Christmas trees in November, let them. Who fucking cares, does it directly affect your lively hood? No. People complaining about it need a hobby. /rant.
Ps. I like the vibe. Very cozy.

The lighting does look like that, but if you zoom in to the books, the text is coherent

That Christmas tree is doing a lot of work. I like the Dark Nostalgia thing and you’ve done it very well but the small window reminds me of time served.

I love this setup. Looks fantastic. I would loose hours and hours in there just reading, soaking in serenity.

Day after Thanksgiving (Black Friday) is the best day for Christmas decorations. I don't want to yuck anyone's yum but it's just too damned early for Christmas.

u/Separate_Increase210 Nov 09 '24
Absolutely agree.
In fact, I was just laughing with my parents today about how jogging through my neighborhood in the early morning this past week I've seen three houses with Xmas tree + lights in the front window already.
For me, it's a no, too early.
But for others, I mean, I can kinda get the joy and wanting to celebrate it as much as possible, I guess I can get the desire.
But when celebrating comes too often, it's no longer special, it just becomes normal. And that's a lot less fun and not at all special.
