I’m a black girl, and this cracked me up... contagious laughter from both parties. She is clearly unbothered af, if you notice the cracked window and her putting the window up mid sentence. But alas, his delivery of the corny pickup line got a laugh, even if the set up was cringeworthy 😬

I will never understand Americans' obsessive focus on pointing out skin colors.
29
u/JustHonestly Apr 09 '21
I mean they even put their race on things like college applications... like, what the fuck man
50
u/LovableContrarian Apr 09 '21
And I'll never understand Reddit's obsession with pretending racism only exists in America.

Mostly the education system. Essentially modern sociological theory states that to ignore race as a factor is doing a disservice to non-white people. Whether you agree or not that’s a big reason why it keeps being perpetuated

I say the media is the biggest contributer to things like this. That and socal media where people can say things online and nobody k own who typed it.

Not cringe, just a guy who doesn’t take himself too seriously, if you think either person cringed from this interaction y’all need to practice your social skills.

People like different stuff I guess. I couldn't make it more than 15 mins through Borat before I was cringing out of my skin. Some people love that shit, idk man.

u/Bars-Jack Apr 09 '21
Most people aren't used to positive public moments. And maybe the decades of funny/prank videos have made it normal to just laugh and enjoy people being assholes or weird to other people.

Tolerance to cringe is a skill, it must be developed spend an hour at r/Cringetopia and stuff like this is genuinely wholesome
29
Apr 09 '21
I thought it was cute personally, I wish people would say stuff like this to me rather than what I usually get
8
u/Bars-Jack Apr 09 '21
True. I'd especially appreciate it as a big guy, for whatever reason people tend to just avoid even looking. I feel like the people who find this video cringe just don't like interacting with strangers out of good will or for fun.

Cringe was making it a race thing mostly.
14
u/Bars-Jack Apr 09 '21
Meh, I just took it as him making fun of the stereotype of white guys. Which isn't the best of jokes but it isn't cringeworthy imo. I didn't see it as him making any 'thing' about it.

I’d say it’s fun cringe where the point is to be a bit stupid to get a laugh outta someone

The whole sentiment of that comment was me wishing every one was thought of as an equal and I was trying to express that in a funny way. If you think that's "racist as fuck", you must be incredibly sensitive.

u/cornerstorenewports Apr 09 '21
i hate this shit. this reminds me of "cops can be cool!" videos. you dont need to scare the shit outta someone before saying your stupid bullshit. OMG THEY THOUGHT I WAS GONNA DO VIOLENCE TO THEM BUT I VERBALLY HARASSED THEM INSTEAD LOL
17
u/j0lly_c0mpani0n Apr 09 '21
What part of this is supposed to be "scary" or "harrassement"? Maybe I'm missing something but this just looks like a dude intentionally acting like a corny white guy and giving a woman a compliment to me.
2
u/cornerstorenewports Apr 09 '21
eh i was drunk, but i was referring to the videos where cops pull people over and then like give them ice cream or something
-6
u/Tackerta Apr 09 '21
this right here is good 2010 jokes, sadly the world evolved into a sensitive pile of shit and no one can be genuinely funny and/or corny without triggering SJW left and right (not a political compass pun)

Warning!
I told a guy a big compliment one day, "There's a guy with swagger!"
He did a double-take and was visually upset. It was quite difficult to keep my upbeat tone like the guy in the video while trying to annunciate "S.W.A.G. ger" to that black guy.
