Really proud of myself I am sober and clean!

Hi guys , I am a recovering addict I am currently 3 weeks clean from weed & 6 weeks sober from alcohol. I find myself not giving myself a pat in the back for the things that I do. But I think I deserve to be proud of myself , & being able to choose myself. I want to continue this sober journey , and share with internet strangers because people in my life don’t know that I struggle with addiction. Or they are not fully supportive. I am A hugger and wish I could revive a bear hug.

Edit- Thank you all , I really appreciate the kind words ❤️. May you all have a wonderful rest of the year , I shall keep pushing forward.

That’s amazing!! You’re so good for pulling this off! Take a look at how different and shiny you are when sober compared to under influence! I bet you’re more lucid and charming to be around. Keep that going for yourself!

Congratulations! I love that you are gifting yourself the life you feel like you deserve. I'm proud of you, friend.

If you're interested, there's a lovely little corner of reddit that helps people of varying journeys of removing alcohol from their lives. I've been almost two years alcohol-free. Different pillars helped support me in this journey. But the sub r/stopdrinking has been incredible for me.

As we say over there, I will not drink with you tonight (or IWNDWYT). You've got this, OP 💖

Let’s go! Being sober, no matter the amount of time, is something to be proud of! And if you can’t be proud of yourself just yet, then I’ll be proud for you :)

Congrats on making the decision to drop the toxic habits... it takes work, and that's the big first step.

I gave up alcohol 2 years ago after a health scare (Colon Cancer) and am all good after surgery. That's the kick in the ass I needed to understand I didn't need the toxic habit adding to my health issues. The hardest part is recognizing that your brain has to break the dependence on the chemicals and it takes your will power to change it.

and enjoy every day for the beauty that life can bring you.

Get support. I recommend going to meetings. I’ve got 39 years clean in NA after 12 years of in-patient treatments, halfway houses, jail, therapy, etc. My life is AMAZING!!

I’ve been on this journey for about 4 years. next year will be 5 , but the last 2 years i have been getting all type of support from NA , 12 step , therapy in substance abuse and therapy for mental health. The longest I’ve been sober on substance is 8 months. So I can say this is not my first rodeo lol. Life is crazy but we shall push forward.
