Discussion Small business advice
Hi all! I’m a small business owner and make gifts for the home. I’ve been in business for several years and want to have my products in stores. How do you fellow small business owners get your products into stores? I don’t know the first place to start. Do I reach out to local shops? Any advice would be great!

Do I reach out to local shops?
It certainly wouldn't hurt. If they don't end up carrying your products, then they'll have information about who can.

I have a friend who had a book published recently. It's in a niche area so he went to stores he knew would draw his customers and talked to the owners, just as you suggest. Work on your pitch with someone and make a few calls on less critical potential clients to get your game down before you start hitting up what could be critical clients for you. Good luck!

Can you be more specific on the types of stores you would like to get your products into?

Reach out to the local antique/gift malls in the area. They allow you to setup a booth to display and sell your items. They take a percentage of your sales in return.
