Beckett? She did a lot of shady things in pursuit of Bracken. I'm not sure she fits in any of the future choices.

I feel she might fit better on the middle-middle square because I’ve seen a lot of people who don’t like her

In season 8 she was Horrible Person/Opinions are Divided. I was on Tumblr then and the mental gymnastics people went through to justify their liking of her and that she was not a horrible person were...something else.

Nothing morally grey about that, they had his daughter surely that’s justified. Or am I just a sociopath?

That’s not morally gray. That’s a good person forced to be in a bad situation, and defining someone by their actions in a single episode would be a major disservice to the character.

Honestly everyone in the show is either morally grey or bad people. Ryan and alexis are probably the only morally good people in the show.

OP you should expand the categories here. There are more characters and putting just one character in the “Loved by fans” category just ain’t right. Esposito and Ryan are a package deal

yeah, BUT, Espo is a LOT more morally grey, and also a lot less beloved by fans 😶

I think this would be Beckett. It’s clear that her intentions were for the best but her choice of actions weren’t always good.
As for Montgomery, I’d put him in morally grey, opinions are divided. He started out as a corrupt cop and instead of easily seeking out justice for Kate’s mom (as he should given he is captain of their precinct), he decided to keep his past a secret. Heck, he gave Beckett a hint during her rookie years but whether he gave a hint or ultimately told her, it would still lead up to Beckett putting Bracken behind bars. Kate, regardless of how dangerous she’s against, will still proceed to bring justice to her situation. She somehow gives “means justifies the ends”

I'm gonna have to go with Captain Montgomery here. I absolutely love the character (and any time I see the actor in other things he's a generally likable guy), but he did some shady things in his past and probably might have done more if said past hadn't caught up to him. I get that it had to end that way but it still hurt.
