The Rookie. There’s six seasons. Season 7 starts 1/7/25. Stars Nathan Fillion.

Is it also a crime show? I really love murders, kidnapping etc. not a big fan of mob type things

It’s a cop show. Nathan plays officer John Nolan. He joins the LAPD after an event and becomes the oldest rookie to ever join. Loosely based on a real person.

The first few seasons are great and in my opinion do a better job of showing what the role of a cop should be rather than what it is in reality. And it holds cops to a higher standard and responsibility. However, the mob plot you mentioned is still very present in the show, except it’s replaced with gangs and cartels. It gets pretty ridiculous in the later seasons with a lot of crazy high stakes situations. Basically as the show goes on, you may start to notice a priority on drama rather than the quality character development and hopeful police work that was present in the first few seasons.

Was a wonderful series. My wife and I loved that in original run. IMO, another example of ABC mismanaging a series that should have gone further & lasted longer. Always wondered if Dana Delaney’s great 2-part guest star role on Castle played a role in green-lighting BofP with her in lead.

Oh yes, Lucifer. I agree! Reminded me so much of Castle. Instead of a writer tag-a-long, it’s the devil. Loved that show.

I'm currently watching Tracker on Disney+ after finishing Castle. He tracks missing people/kidnapped etc. Stars Justin Hartley.

Psych. Goo mix of crime drama and comedy, great storylines for the most part, interesting characters and relationships. It's similar to Castle in the fact a non-police officer consults to solve crimes, but a fake psychic instead of a writer.
Also, if you like Criminal Minds so much, try Mindhunter and Hannibal. I've never watched Mindhunter, it's on my list, but it has good reviews, I love Hannibal, and both utilise the same department of the FBI, though it's got the old name of Behavioural Science Unit. Hannibal's a lot darker, though.
If you haven't seem them, the CSI's are also worth a watch, though I'm not sure if anywhere had Miami or New York, I know Paramount+ has all of the original one set in Vegas.
