Safety Question My aunt asked me if she actually needed new tires or if they were trying to pull a fast one on her. I told her to stick a US quarter in it and send me a pic. (AMG SLC 43 in Vancouver, BC on summer tires in late October)

Safety Question Dropped rubber gasket into cylinder. Should I be able to burn it off? Or do I need to try to retrieve it

I dropped a rubber gasket that goes to the injector into the cylinder. It fell into the cylinder and I've tried my best to get it with no luck. I was wondering what's the risk of trying to just burn it off. I have the ability to remove the cylinder head, but I'd rather not

Safety Question Am I going to die driving this car?

Post image

I have a 1990 Liteace that I'm building into a camper, and I love it. The more I have been driving it though, the more I've been worried about the non-existent safety. No airbags and the crumble-zone is my legs. I don't really drive faster than 80 kmh / 50 mph due to it only faving four gears, but in the event of a crash will I instantly lose my life or atleast my legs?

Doesn't belong to anyone who's been in our family car; my next thought would be to ask our car shop? Wondering if it's a normie car thing nowadays or something suspicious?

Safety Question Woke up this morning and saw this. Wondering why they didn't steal the car? Were they just incompetent? Did they make a mistake that you can tell from the picture alone?

Hey all. Woke up this morning and saw my window smashed and my car broken into. Very shaken. They didn't steal anything. I'm wondering how they got all the way up to this point and just didn't steal the car. I don't have any antitheft or anything. It's a Hyundai Elantra 2018 so I know it's been a target for thieves (been meaning to take it to the dealer but that is beside the issue). Is there anything you can tell from the picture? Like did they mistakenly cut the wrong wire or something? Can you tell?

Hurricane Helene hit us last night. The weather condition was too bad to move it to a higher ground. Woke up this morning and found my car had been partially submerged in the water. The highest water line is shown in the pictures. The windows were rolled down and wiper was switched on during the storm. I smelled something burnt while getting in the car, it also displayed a transmission malfunction on the dash. I know this car might be a goner, but is there any slight chance that it can be fixed? I have insurance but not comprehensive coverage, I also had this car financed, still owing 14k to Carmax. I didn’t try to start the car, I’m in distress and don’t know what to do next. Tow it to a mechanic see if it can get fixed ? Is that even worth it? Or should I trade it in for as much as I can get? Pls I need help

Just tell this morning, I'm about 16 miles from where I can get it fixed with what I can afford. If I drive like this, am I just asking for th exhaust and/or muffler to dislodge completely?

About 40-50% of the cars we passed on the road today had no headlights on or only had the dim side lights. Do automatic lights not work in fog for these modern cars? Seems super sketchy

Safety Question Brother keeps car running in garage. How dangerous?

My brother has a 2020 spark that he will park in the garage and hotbox. He will open the garage at most 1/3 of the way and keep the car running for the A/C. 30-90 mins at a time. I do not care about the smoking. I told him to stop once and yet he continues. I put in a CO sensor, and it has not gone off yet, he’s smoked at least twice since I put it in. Is there any other danger that can arise from this stupid habit?

Safety Question 2003 jeep wrangler

This is what my car does randomly on the highway and guaranteed to happen if I press the gas over a bump. This is not a normal jeep shake apparently. Have had multiple alignments and balances, wheels are not warped or bent. Please help!

Safety Question When a jumpstart goes wrong?

Thumbnail

Neighbor tried jumping my wife’s ‘06 Nissan Altima, we left it for 10 minutes and came back and the cables had melted through the headlight of both cars and some of the bumper. I wasn’t there but thankfully they stopped their car and were able to disconnect the cables without incident. We noticed after there had been mice living in around her engine from the mouse poop, minimum the last two weeks. What causes jumper cables to do this? Something a rodent may have chewed? Definitely an issue with my wife’s car. Our poor neighbors have a newish midsized suv. My wife has also had constant issues starting her car, even with a new battery I got a year or two ago. Anyone seen this before?

Safety Question Is it safe to have a cold air intake in the bottom end of your car?

Post image

So I drive a 2011 Hyundai genesis coupe and I plan on putting the AEM cold air intake that goes all the way down to the fender and I suppose this could work with the stock bumper because it has barely no airflow but that's not my case, I have the cuper front bumper which has 3 vents in the bottoms end. So it is really safe to put the intake behind that vent it's also covered from the bottom I just want to drive safe in the rain and I will obviously avoid puddles.
