Bike Racks vs. License Plates vs. Cops

Anyone got a bike rack that just covers part of their plate? Do the police care? I just bought a Thule T2 Pro X and I’m worried about getting in trouble for it!

With the number of cars with expired tags, fake tags/plates, or no plates at all, I think you are pretty safe in Charlotte.

I also have a 1Up & haven't been pulled over. Tho I got one of their license plate holders & took it off.

Within Mecklenburg county it definitely doesn't matter. You don't even need a license plate. The only crimes investigated are literally murder

This is Charlotte, my friend.

I've got two cars. I drive both each about as frequently. One has up to date tags, the other has a tag reading April 2020. I've never even gotten a warning.

License plates kind of don't matter in this town.

I’ve never had an issue. Used a rack for a year.

I actually got pulled for this in Pineville. 1up rack, folded up covered the plate on my previous car. No ticket or beating received because I’m a middle aged white guy, I suppose.

I got pulled over for going too fast in a toll area in another state and the police docked me for my bikes covering my plates too. Never been pulled over that that alone though.

Only on the I 77 and US 74 tollways. You will get pulled over and if you don’t have a NC Quick Pass transponder on your windshield they’ll most likely write you a ticket.

If I don't drive on the tollways, then it's okay right? I dont usually drive on them anyways

Should be fine, I had a tow hitch rack for 3 years and only got pulled over on tollways.
