Vintage Black&Decker EK39 Electric Knife
ChatGPT says these came out in the early 90s, but I would swear my mom got this one in the 70s. Still cuts like a champ, but that’s likely due to the fact it only gets used once a year at most.

I keep an eye out for new old stock appliances, hard to find good USA made stuff today.
That usually means very old though, like the 70s. Not sure when it became super common, I would guess mid 80s?
Huge chore though, they never list it in the description, you have to look at pictures. The sad part is a lot of appliances made in the US are cheaply made but the American standard of cheap and the Chinese standard are so different, the worst of American still beat the best of Chinese made goods (if you can manage to find them.)
Thats been my biggest issue with Chinese goods, its not that they can't make good things, its that the companies who sold out and moved over there are into planned obsolescence, you have no way of telling if its any good. Brands mean nothing anymore. New old stock and open box are the best way to look for older appliances in good shape, although open box requires you to know the model name or number.

These are Very durable. We use them for filleting speckled trout. It makes the job of cleaning 45 trout a lot easier.
