Make them confront what they've voted for in a depressing way
Got Boomers in your life who spend time in your home? Start watching genocide documentaries. Watch them about the Holocaust and Rwanda and Palestine. And for fun, throw in videos about the Japanese camps we had, and make comments about how you wouldn't have thought a SCOTUS would be ok with Trump putting people he hates in camps except you know about them declaring the camps Constitutional. Casually comment how strange it is so many Holocaust survivors' descendants are committing genocide in Palestine.
I don't mean literally watching together btw - just have them on in the background. Or whateve. Just have them on. Make them uncomfortable.

That's not good for my own mental health.

I mean, I completely get that. But I noticed my Boomer FIL looking quite troubled when he was here recently and I casually had one about the troops in North Korea being used as bait. So he's at least thinking about consequences. I'll take my sorrow for that.

They'll just think you went nuts and that will reaffirm that they aren't the ones with problems or issues.
As it is, the boomers now have a nickname for younger folks..."the doomers" (I'll skip the irony).
It'll just reconfirm their own view that those who disagree with them politically are really the crazy ones or in a cult or whatever.

Oh my God I wonder what will happen when they die out. There are still plenty of trumpers who are brainwashed.

Not to be more pessimistic (sorry if this gets more depressing), but the trumpers diversified in age groups in the last election.
He actually either lost or tied in the age 65+ demo, but did a lot better with younger voters then expected. Like more then enough to offset losses to his trad group.
They aren't going anywhere, they're being replaced by younger versions.

I've been pondering this. Since WWII people keen to avoid a re-emergence of Nazism have focussed on the atrocities in the camps, othering and humiliation of minority group citizens, political street violence and so on. Meanwhile the pro-Nazis have actually agreed with them that this is the best way to confront Nazism, and responded with Holocaust denial. Its starting to look like all this was wasted effort, because once a demagogue has whipped up enough hate, all that stuff looks kinda cool to his deranged followers. They have lost any empathy they once had and are consumed by basic desires for introspective selfish comfort. Materially by destroying others and taking their stuff, or psychologically by blaming and belittling others while aggrandizing themselves. It would probably be better for future warnings from history to focus on survivor testimony from Berlin and Hiroshima in 1945, maybe disgusted Americans supervising German civilians being marched round camps at Eisenhower's orders. Nazism leads to extreme inconvenience.

You're assuming they have the self-awareness to see the similarities. They don't.

My Boomer mother and I used to go to a synagogue with a Holocaust survivor, we had a Torah that had to be snuggled out of Nazi Germany, and yet she still voted for a Nazi, because my dad controls her vote. She blindly follows his political views. It is hard to talk to them knowing they voted for hatred despite their child, me, being openly LGBT and in what is legally considered a same sex couple.

That disturbs me and I study history. There's better ways to try and convert your elders. I (66 m) can't believe you have those on for background noise. That's grim... good luck.

I can tell you’re a man because women don’t blink twice listening to brutal true crime as background noise constantly lol I swear men are so squeamish to the nasty truth about humans.

My boomer racist mother strangely doesn't like documentaries about the heinous crimes toward black people (Emmett Till she really doesn't wanna listen to, funny enough), being reminded what her husband used to do for fun when he was in 1950s texas, or being reminded that lynching still exists. Funny how she slings the n-word around.

I recently asked my mom if her preferred brand of conservative slop (I think she's watching tucker rn) ever says anything that she doesn't agree with/if they ever say anything wrong.
When she said no, I asked her why that is.
I don't think I got through to her, but at least for the rest of the car ride her two braincells might have put echo and chamber together for a second.

It's pathetic you have nothing but misogyny to throw at her and you think it makes you smart.

It’s not even that she is a woman.. I love women and respect them plenty.. but she is completely and utterly useless a government puppet who ran her city into a hellhole.. to top it off she isn’t even a mother .. mothers deserve to be #1.. it’s not about my hate for her that she is a woman. I’d love if they ran tulsi. I would have voted for tulsi because she cares about America and not some woke social justice movement. I’m gonna make it very clear I love women and treat them with respect ask my wife and mother the two most important people in my life even my mother and wife thought she was fake AF.. apparently so did plenty of other women who actually care about America and not just some social justice experiment
