Discussion Any tips for reading music?

I’m visually impaired and I play piano. So far the way I play pieces are by my piano teacher telling me the notes/fingering, but thinking about the future I’m not always going to have someone with me to read the notes for me. What are some ways you guys read notes?

Are you blind or vision impaired? For the former, I know braille music is available (so you would memorise a piece prior to playing), for the latter, I use MuseScore to enlarge pieces which I either play from my iPad or print out. I have perfect pitch which is very helpful if I know a piece by ear, if you don’t already have it, try to develop relative pitch as you play, ask your teacher about it :)

Theres a few ways we have done it over the years - enlargeing the music by either a copyer machine or useing a magnifying glass - learning the song by ear - a combo of these two Braile music is also an option

I use musescore on my PC. Painfully slow without perfect pitch but it works.
