I remember we went to Ireland a few years ago. Everyone we spoke to lived around NYC for a time. They all said the economy was bad so they came to the US, overstayed their visas and worked as servers and bartenders. That was mind-blowing that literally dozens or Irish people all did the same thing.

They didn't go there for the economy, Irish people can move anywhere in the EU and the Irish economy with its 12.7 euro/h minimum wage is definitely not bad enough that you would rather be an illegal immigrant without any pension/health insurance.

They left because of the Hollywood image of the US, LA and NYC, living like the shows.

No, they left because the bar/restaurant jobs were dying out because the economy was doing poorly

And I am saying that someone is lying, I am an EU citizen and no one with a rational thought in their head would do that.

Life for a low-income person is better in the EU, for example, no one in Germany works two full-time jobs to get by.

Being an illegal in the US must be horrific, it only makes sense for people coming from really bad countries.

I was shocked when I saw a woman throwing a Latvian passport in a 60min video, but again I am 100% sure she is not coming for a better job but either a lover, family, or the Hollywood dream of the USA.
