It’s not about your forehead size. From the angle of this pic, it looks like you have an egg shaped head. In combination with the taper, The slope at the front of your head is making it look like the braids start far back.
Why do you have the taper though? Did you purposely cut it, or did you suffer breakage / hair loss?

Yes as a female I think it's too big and men should stop shaving the top and sides of their hair. Tbh grow it ALL out then get cornrows
