Pits Ruining Neighborhoods This lady's pit kept lunging at other customers. All she did was laugh it off. She could barely restrain him with that crappy leash.
What really irked me was that she never had the lock on for the leash. It was free to walk across the room without her noticing. š¤¦š»āāļø

It's disgusting that the shitbull is even there. You know she'd never be able to control it if it went for another dog.
Seriously, this is the first time I've ever typed this but it's finally hit home......
GARBAGE DOGS for GARBAGE PEOPLE!

u/gimmethelulz I just want to walk my dog without fearing for its life Jun 17 '23
I don't take my dogs out to breweries anymore for this reason. 9 times out of 10 a reactive dog is going to be there stirring up shit.

The pitbull "smile" reminds me in a way of declawed cats. Let me explain.
Declawing cats isn't just cruel because of the brutality of what it entails; it also denies cats a fundamental, ongoing urge. Cats want to stretch and claw at things. Don't get a cat if you don't want that and aren't willing to put in the effort to provide them an outlet! It is cruel to take an animal that is drawn to a behavior and then take away from them a way of scratching (no pun intended) that itch.
Pitbulls want to attack. They want to maul. They want to mercilessly kill.
Why in the hell would you take an animal with that urge and introduce it into a world where they exist outside of a fighting ring? Can you imagine the incessant, gnawing itch on their mind and body having an urge and having to repress it? It goes beyond an automatic species-specific behavior, it's what they're for as a breed, and their bodies know it.
It's cruel to society to let these monsters hurt anyone who isn't the idiot who takes one into their home, but it's also cruel to let them exist. They serve no purpose. Even if they don't maul or kill, they "get mouthy" and show "whale eyes" because they're like a declawed cat, unable to do something their DNA is begging them to do.

u/bearfaceliar Jun 17 '23
The 'smile' people so pathetically think is real š¤¦, it actually helps these beasts breath when they are clamped down on something, so they don't have to let go......
66
u/ExiKid Jun 17 '23
God, you've explained this so well, and it makes me so sad for declawed cats, and honestly for pitbulls too.
Declawing shouldn't exist, and neither should Pitbulls š¢

āPits donāt want to attackā why donāt you look up the victims that were attacked or killed by pitbulls. Ask the mothers who lost their baby because they thought getting a pitbull was a great idea, ask people who had seizures and then their pitbull attacked, ask people whoās cat got killed by their pitbull. Pitbulls have the highest attack and killing percentage of any dog breed.

PSA: If you or someone you know suffers from a medical condition that causes seizures, such as epilepsy, please take extra care to stay away from pit bull-type dogs, as these episodes can trigger their attack instinct.

Go watch a video of any pitbull mauling. They wag their tail and look happy the whole time. They enjoy it.

Pitbulls do want to attack. It's no different than how a Chesapeake Bay retriever has the urge to retrieve a tennis ball or how my whippet has the urge to chase squirrels and robins.
If they don't want to attack, why are there so many videos across different social media platforms of them attacking people and animals EVEN AS PUPPIES? Why do pitbull puppies try to maul their own littermates?
Here are examples of pitbulls "not wanting to attack":
May 2023
April 2023
March 2023 (1)
March 2023 (2)
March 2023 (3)
February 2023
January 2023
When a pitbull attacks, it's simply doing what it's ancestors and modern relatives were/ are bred to do. Attack, maul and kill, no matter how long it takes and now matter how much pain it's in when mauling.

u/ssaiyan-merqusy Jun 17 '23
Pits don't want to attack, they just nanny everything around them into another realm of existence, right?
63
u/WubbyThePHPLord Jun 17 '23
Do you know chimpanzees smile before attacking.

I read an article by a primatologist on how she encouraged people to avoid making eye contact with primates and avoid smiling at them because they will rip your face of if you do.

I always just thought a dog's "smile" was just them opening their mouths to pant.

The actual smiling dog is a Samoyed.
17
u/Future-Welder-195 Jun 17 '23
Samoyed
I love the look of these dogs! But "Samoyed" means "self-eater" in Russian, which doesn't inspire confidence in the dog's temperament, perhaps wrongly.

u/moosemoth Pro-Pet; therefore Anti-Pit Jun 18 '23
Samoyed dogs are named after the derogatory Russian name for the native Siberian peoples they originated from.

Lots of dogs smile for lots of different reasons. It can signal happiness, anxiety, submissiveness, aggression, and more. Our girl smiles when she's excited and when she does something she's not supposed to lol.

What's scary is, we know what these things are, we see one somewhere, we think, fuck this, I'm going to have to be the brainiac here and leave.
Majority of people who just take life as it comes? "Well that's a scary looking dog but I'm sure it's fine and they know what they're doing, otherwise they wouldn't have brought it here, let's order"
That might change once a few of these places have been turned into the garden party scene from Aliigator of course.

Why do people need to bring dogs to a restaurant? We survived untold number of years without doing this.
57
u/zani1903 Jun 17 '23
Because people are lazy as fuck and can't cut out that one hour in their day to take their dog out solely for a walk, so instead make it everyone else's problem.

u/MethAddictedTreeFrog Friend or Relative of Severely Wounded Person Jun 17 '23
Typical pit gaze. Mouth agape, panting like itās asthmatic and constantly out of breath, leaking snot and drool out of its diaper-rashed orifices, staring lazy eyed up at the sky asking god why he would make such an abominable thing such as itself. These things are so pitiable

That dog reminds me of the song "Excitable Boy" (Warren Zevon)
"He took in the four a.m. show at the Clark
Excitable boy, they all said
And he bit the usherette's leg in the dark
Excitable boy, they all said
Well, he's just an excitable boy"
What I expect when your dog is at an outdoor dining area is that it can remain in a down position most of the time and easily redirected if it becomes distracted. Your dog needs to chill for at least 45 minutes if the servers are at the top of their game and the kitchen is running at speed.

Of course the lady was oblivious that her dog was misbehaving and was a danger to others.
23
u/march_rogue Slow walking and plip plopping Jun 18 '23
She's ironically using her dog to bait people into some kind of altercation. She wants attention, wants someone to "start something" so she can whine and yell about discrimination and pitbulls and basically just cause a scene. Purely, imo.
They are not looking or caring a bit about what that dog is doing. It actually looks like she's strangling it with its collar.

That thing has the mouth of an orca. Tired of people saying, "In Europe they bring dogs everywhere," but on the continent the dogs are traditionally well behaved, aren't they? Saw a huge pit in the local beer garden yesterday, surrounded by infants and small dogs. Parents were more interested in their fries and craft beers.
18
u/Future-Welder-195 Jun 17 '23
Which part of Europe are they talking about? Italy, France, Norway, Belgium, Finland, Denmark, Turkey... Didn't see anything like that. Don't remember any dogs in public places, let alone pitbulls.
American cities, yes, every day is like Westminster show, dogs everywhere...

u/ShibeFriday Jun 17 '23
My policy is to keep as much distance as possible between my dogs and fighting breeds. I wouldnāt stay in this restaurant if I had my dogs too. Itās ALWAYS pitbull owners with a cruddy ancient collar and leash thatās too loose and too thin. I always assess the owner and equipment and act accordingly.
Part of being responsible is having equipment that is strong enough and replace it often at the most minimal sign of wear.
Some idiotās pitbull recently slipped its flimsy collar to charge my 12 lb dog snapping after him as I quickly yanked him up by the Ruffwear Webmaster harness and one of our dozen sewn biothane leads. I was just leaving my house and halfway down the block and had to scramble up onto a neighborās steps to evade this vile creature. It followed up the steps. It was out for blood. This has become a clichĆ©. Lucky that I didnāt have my sighthound with me. He would have been a very expensive snack.

This happens at my favorite bar all too often. One regular once had me hold his shitbull while he went in to get a drink! That was super annoying. I kept it on the shortest leash possible, and no issues arose, but still... I don't want to assume responsibility for your irresponsible choice of dog! Especially when I have been drinking! Rant over.
