ASK THE SUB Athletic Apparel Brands?

Hey guys! I'm a pretty active person and it's about time I buy some new stuff. Can anyone give me recommendations for brands to look into? To the best of my knowledge, the following are not an option:

  1. Nike (Involved with Uyghur forced labor camps in China)
  2. Adidas (Used to sponsor Israeli Football, was also involved with Uyghur forced labor camps in China)
  3. Puma (Currently sponsoring Israeli Football after Adidas stopped, but announced they'll stop "sometime in 2024" - no specific date given)
  4. Reebok (Has been verbal about their Pro-Israel stance, also sponsored Israeli Olympic Team)
  5. Under Armour (Supply chain includes Israeli companies, also just opened up 15 new stores in Israel)
  6. New Balance (Sponsored Israeli marathons and sporting events)

My ideal choice would be to purchase from brands that have taken a Pro Palestine stance or a stance against Israel and condemned their actions. However, due to a lack of such brands, I'm also okay with purchasing from brands that are neutral.

Note: While I'd like to know about brands that I can purchase from, please also feel free to let me know which other brands to avoid (and also why)

PaliPower is a Palestinian inspired gym apparel brand who donates 10% of profits to Palestinian Relief Funds ! I did some digging and found them from tiktok. I’ll comment again if I find any more.

Hoka, Brooks and Vessi don't have any involvement with affiliating Israeli sponsors. Also Asics has an investment with Seevix, which is founded in Israel so try to avoid that.

Although if these shoes from 3 companies don't last or have better comfort and quality than the list mentioned, your only bet is to buy them second hand via eBay since you don't give direct money to the brand.

Try to avoid buying resell items though if you want to find cheaper stuff.

Brooks is owned by Warren Buffet's investment company, Buffet not only invests in Israeli bonds but advocates for other billionaires to do so!

Oof. I haven't find deeper on that, even google but thanks for the reminder.

I always thought Brooks was Australian, and after buying a pair, I double-checked and was upset to realise what I'd done

What about On Cloud running? Any zionist connections?

I think on cloud are safe because they’re Swiss Made

i was also considering the brand at one point, however they supply their products to the settlers in occupied Palestine, here’s a link to their website: https://www.oncloudisrael-il.com

they also have an official instagram account, here’s the instagram account link: https://www.instagram.com/orp_israel/

Their shoes are also widely found in outlets all over the occupied Palestinian territories.

There may be other things I have missed, but this is what I found by searching “oncloud israel”.

I mean, it’s the same way with brands like Avène or Byoma that may have suppliers in Israel but wouldn’t have investors in the country. So I say, boycott where you can I suppose 🤷🏻‍♂️

Avoid Hurley. It's owned by Nike now.

So still no "good" brands in this thread? Who are we supposed to buy from??

Edit: I just did a bit of a dive on Columbia sportswear and couldn't find any zionist links - seems like at least a "neutral" option. They specialize in outdoors, hiking and ski etc clothes but now they also own Prana and Mountain Hardwear and Sorrel. I think they do "every day" athletic wear as well, so could be a good option.

My thoughts exactly.

1

u/No_Payment5341 Jul 28 '24

any brand name?

2

u/YourSecretsSafewthme Jul 28 '24

Columbia, and the brands it owns -Mountain Hardwear, Prana - are all brand names

Again, this is just from my own search and I didn't find any pro-zionist messaging so they could be considered neutral

Thank you for this!

BoxRaw is pro-palestine, definitely worth.

I know Adidas used to sponsor Israeli football but are there other reasons to boycott them for what they are doing currently? Like are they affiliated with Puma or some other company with active involvement in Israel? I would very much appreciate any info.

As a person obsessed with all types of sports it sucks there are no good options for gear and stuff.

Here looking for useful suggestions to avoid brands dealing with genocidal z!onist settlers - not here to read how some 1 has confused what they think is happening in China with what IS happening in Palestine. This kind of silliness betrays the purpose of a SUB labelled BDS, was this the purpose?

This guy's using the oldest trick in the book, equating antizionism with antisemitism.

This guy's using the oldest trick in the book, decoupling Jews and Israel to make himself feel better about his antisemitism.

7

u/lots2learn Oct 15 '24

Plenty of Jews decouple themselves from Israel. You don't get to ethnically cleanse and then use your religion as cover from criticism.

1

u/BrianHelman Oct 15 '24

So you're employing what is called confirmation bias. the overwhelming number of Jews disagree with your statement. also, I am by no means decoupling ethnicity and religion because both of them point to Israel as our native land both now try to do that with these people that assert themselves to be Palestinians because you'll have to explain to me how they built their mosque on top of a Jewish temple if they were there first.

2

u/lots2learn Oct 15 '24 edited Oct 15 '24

You're incorrect on both fronts. Less than half of Jews in the US think caring about Israel is essential to what being Jewish means:
https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2021/05/21/u-s-jews-have-widely-differing-views-on-israel/

And you're second point is an argumentum ad populum. You're religious belief that a mosque was built on top of a temple has no grounding in objective historical fact.

Moreover if you are justifying ethnic cleansing today based on some religious belief (or based on anything really), you're a nut that has no place in civil discourse.

1

u/BrianHelman Oct 15 '24

well that's the biggest load of gas lighting I have seen on the internet in years. but anything to justify your antemitism, right?

2

u/lots2learn Oct 15 '24

Keep reaching pal. Maybe someday you'll find real antisemitism.

1

u/BrianHelman Oct 15 '24

Keep trying to justify your Jew-hatred.

Pal.

Hey man I know you’re brainwashed to believe that Israel and Judaism are one in the same, my friend grew up in Israel and he was kind enough to share some of the things he learned as a kid there. Just know that we actually don’t hate Jews. But we’re also don’t want the safety of Jews to be at the cost of killing other people. So this is not on an attack on you, or your family, but the Israeli government specifically - they need to pivot to peace and diplomacy.

u/BrianHelman Oct 15 '24

2

u/lots2learn Oct 15 '24

You should stand corrected because you're quoting a partial Israeli supremacist org over internationally recognized Pew.
