Folks that swapped their auto dimming side mirrors for standard

Do you regret it? Do you have blue or standard? My passenger side is finally failing and while I love keeping it OEM I know it will fail again eventually…

I did swap out mine, I don’t regret it at all and I got the blues. Cost me 12 bucks lol. Both sides

When mine was failing, I skimmed ebay for an entire side mirror assembly off a junker, because wildly, that was much cheaper than just the auto-dimming glass by itself! It’s easy to tell from a good photo that it is in fact auto dimming and also that it hasn’t failed yet.

I got 2 complete sets of autodim glass for like $50+ shipping of the b5 group on Facebook...

Mine are blue tinted but they don’t seem to auto dim. How can I tell?

Do you get blinded by headlights following you at night? If yes, then they’re not autodim.

Oh yeah no I only get blinded by rear view not side mirrors

I didn’t swap mine. The auto dimming helps me get less blinded by LED headlights here in the US. I bought a used piece of glass on eBay. They’re interchangeable between the C5 and B5 platform so they aren’t hard to find, I think I paid $40 at most. My first B5 came with a broken mirror so I replaced it before I got inspected
